I hope that will not be the case then, btw it was absolutely brainless cricket on Zim batters part today. Jongwe could have taken Zim closer even if he failed to pull off a win which was a very distant possibility and Zim would be on the top as far as NRT is concerned, almost all the batters were throwing at the kitchen sink as if they were chasing 200-plus target.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 2:45 pmNo chance of the Ireland/WI match being rained off. Forecast for the daytime is lovely. The rain is only due later in the evening for our match

As much as I don't want to express or admit it, I'll be depressed if Zimbabwe don't go through to Super 12s.
I can't remember if there was ever a time when I was not worried about India-Pakistan encounter but some other game
, this time I'm more worried about Friday than Sunday.

If the ICC knows there is a threat of rain in the evening, can't common sense prevail and we have the first game at 10 a.m local time and the 2nd at 2 p.m local time, there are no issues then, why do we have to be so rigid? I'm not even asking for a reserve day.

Its actually criminal that both games aren't starting at the same time

'ICC' and 'common sense' in the same sentence?sam_ahm wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 3:41 pmIf the ICC knows there is a threat of rain in the evening, can't common sense prevail and we have the first game at 10 a.m local time and the 2nd at 2 p.m local time, there are no issues then, why do we have to be so rigid? Absolutely i am Indian myself and i actually don't care about Sunday game as of now. All i want is zimbabwe to qualify. I am too attached to this team and UAE loss still haunts me don't want another such situation .if rain stays away i am confident zimbabwe will beat scotlandsam_ahm wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 3:37 pmAs much as I don't want to express or admit it, I'll be depressed if Zimbabwe don't go through to Super 12s.

Yup Mate! We are those fans who have stuck around with Zim cricket in the worst of times, and now to see this kind of resurgence is quite heartening. I feel if Zimbabwe make it to the super 12 then they will have nothing to lose, it will free them up and we can see the team causing another couple of upsets. That's why I'm so keen to see them progress.tej_27 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 4:02 pmAbsolutely i am Indian myself and i actually don't care about Sunday game as of now. Problem is being overly reliant on just one batter and when he doesn't smoke it, it's hard to chase even a subpar total. Raza can't even have a good game, he has to fuck the bowling up when no one else can step up.
Alzarri bowled a gem of a spell. Express pace too.
It's gonna be a tough slog vs Scotland if it's not rained out. 50-50 game probably given the Scots are in some form.

I am under no illusions that I am probably the pessimistic poster. I accept that.
In saying that, it's because of how often we lose games as opposed to get beaten.
We are winnable positions in so many of the games we play but we do some really dumb stuff and end up losing the game all on our own. Last night was a prime example of that. Did all the hard work with the ball and were easily in a winnable spot, only to go and throw it all away.
We now go into Friday with so much pressure on us and we've done that to ourselves.
I get we've had a mini resurgence, but we also need to be smart when we play. Just swinging the bat at every ball isn't smart cricket. Nice to trounce Singapore and PNG, but we are capable of beating big teams and need to start acting like it. Against Ireland we let them get 20 more runs than they needed.
I love this team way too much to keep seeing us throw away games unnecessarily.
