This win would have really pushed our chance for semi final qualification

Very disappointing result. But I'm trying to remain positive and remember we have already done better than many predicted by even getting to this stage and beating Pakistan. At least we were competitive again today too. We definitely belong at this level now, even if the result didn't go our way. Six months ago many didn't even think we would get through the qualifier. So I don't want to be too critical.

However there are some glaring things that could be improved in this side to take us to the next level.

Ervine's captaincy is poor. it has been poor all year, which we have pointed out on this forum on many different occasions. Off the field I'm sure he si perfect due to his level headedness and calmness. But on the field? He doesn't have half the cricketing brain that either Willo or Regis have. it baffles me why neither of them are captain. Captaincy cost us today.

Not picking Jongwe was madness. Why would you change the team at all after that fantastic result against Pakistan? Jongwe has been criminally underused with the ball throughout this tournament, and he's a capable bat. Really strange selection. Could have made the difference today.

Our absolute biggest problem in this format is SR. Every other country now doesn't even look at Averages in this format - it's all about SR's. Ours are terrible. How does Milton Shumba get in this team? he's a talented boy and he'll have a good future in longer formats, but in this format? Crazy. 17 T20I's this calendar year and his SR is 95. Shockingly bad.

Ervine's career SR is only just above a run a ball.

Regis remains one of my favourite players, but this is clearly his worst format too. I am expecting Ervine and Williams to retire from T20I's after this competition, but I think Regis should consider it too. All three will remain crucial parts of our ODI and Test teams but maybe now will be the time to give opportunities to others.

Burl scored a few runs which is great, but he is supposedly in the team playing as our pinch-hitting explosive finishers. yet his strike rate from 19 T20I's this year is 111!!!! That's awful. Either give him a chance higher up the order, or I don't see what he offers the team batting at 7/8. His returns in that role are very poor. He also barely bowls - so what's the point?

It will be interesting to see what Dave does with the T20 side beyond this tournament. We must be the only country that picks exactly the same XI in all three formats? Time to find some specialists and give people a chance in this format especially. Marumani obviously, but also Munyonga has potential as a big hitter, Madande too. There are others locally who may be worth blooding into this format going forward.

The fight shown by the side at the end was great. This is clearly a very together group who play with the right spirit and passion and the dressing room is clearly a happy place. Credit to Dave for that, and probably thats where Ervine's captaincy has been good too.

Ngarava's last two overs were great btw. He's improved so much. Serious bowler.

My hopes for this tournament were that we got through to the super 12s, had competitive matches and pulled off maybe 1 big upset... the team has already achieved my expectations and let's be real... we are not a semi final level team.

Look at the one sided beat down SA was giving us before rain stopped play. Teams like NZ, Eng and Ind are also miles ahead in terms of discipline, talent and resources

Well South Africa win anyways, if it is some kind of consolation then what this means is that it even if Zimbabwe had won today, it would still have meant no guarantee of a semi final even with 7 points.

True, I think Zimbabwe have already achieved what they had wanted to. I would still say a win over Netherlands should be a realistic target and it will round off a great WC.

Exactly. We still had to beat India. The equation now can still work but we have to do the same thing. Even if we finish 3rd. That's a serious achievement. We were finished just 6 months ago
