I believe Melton becomes eligible for citizenship this month. Problem is he has to hang around for the process, which is massively delayed because the 5 star hotels are full of Albanian mafia getting fast tracked because England need to increase their crime rate.

I think Ballance's reception from most fans will be really positive.
But how about some of the local players? Especially those that are outside the national squad and have been trying for years? Suddenly there's a white guy parachuted in on a big contract, plus he's been done for being a racist in the recent past. Gonna be some spicy reactions on the field, you'd think. And some bitterness.

Melton would be an interesting addition. Injury prone, but he is or was a genuine quick.

I don't think so. You can't argue with his pedigree. As for the racial thing, I'd be surprised. If Ballance's slurs had been leveled at a black guy that might be a different story. The best way for him to shut people up is to pitch up and get a double hundred in the Logan Cup. That will shut people up immediately. I'm only saying this because after seeing what Ervine, Williams and Chamu did already in the Logan Cup there is a good chance Ballance will dominate. He did it before at a very young age and is a better player than them in the longer format.
I also think Ireland will be a relatively decent team to start against. Not too hectic. I don't really think many domestic batsmen have put their hand up to the extent of getting upset about Ballance. He is a genuine star who actually cracked one of the toughest international teams to play for. They might just look in awe.
The guy who will have a big task ahead of him will be Melton. There are some big characters in the fast bowlers committe who aren't even in the main 11. They won't let him have it easy whereas Ballance doesn't have that kind of competition. The kids will be looking up to him.
As for the racism we will see. I think the race he was offensive to will play a huge factor plus they let Vermeulen play

Huge news this for Zimbabwe Cricket regarding Gary Ballance. Massive boost for the team given the quality and experience that Gary brings to the side. Absolutely brilliant.

Imagine the way people really want Byrom and Welch back. Here we got somebody who actually pulled off what both those guys are trying to do. He is too big for people to get upset for more than a month. Yorkshire didn't even want to let him go after all that. That's how good he is

I don't know, just thinking out loud. People deal with racism here much more pragmatically, let's see. The Pakistani community are hardly angels. Every racial/tribal group here has a bit to say about everyone else. Wait until the Chinese start taking offence at what everyone says about them.
