Zimbabwe Vs Ireland | 1st T20I | 12th Jan 2023

I think for entertainment purposes the least you can do when you have such conditions is to bring the boundary ropes in maybe 10 meters. The fielders were like 10 meters in anyway. Would motivate batsman to go for the big shot instead of just looking for 1s and 2s.

Looks like a good all-round winning start to 2023.
Ervine's on thin ice when Raza is back.

No it's easy. Obviously the key is finding the right clay.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:38 pmYeah HSC pitches are never the most exciting. But to be fair the weather has been horrendous for a couple of weeks. Not much the groundsmen can do in these conditions. They also don’t have the equipment, budget and knowledge that Lord’s groundsmen have of course. They usually do a good job with what they have.
As Googly says, ideally they need relaying at some point but that’s a big job (I think?).
The actual work of cutting the deck out and replacing it is simple. They're about a foot deep only, have three quarter stone and then a layer of tiles for drainage, plus tiles on their side to make a wall against an adventurous mole, and you lace it with some nasty ant kill.
There's so much variation in clay though. There you need an expert to say this is the right stuff. The clay we get around Harare crumbles too easily, it's not pure. I'd think you need that proper stuff that potters use. You could potentially get clay that is too good though and the deck won't age in a 4/5 day game. It's literally a few days work, then you wait for the tiff to grow.

I would think Masakadza is the guy on the block because we still need an opening batsman. Actually we probably still need 2 because Marumani doesn't have to open. Hammy may veto.CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 3:05 pmLooks like a good all-round winning start to 2023.

We might end up having a left hander problem soon. We had 7 today. I don't think we have ever had that many. A good off- spinner might be a handful.

Ervine had at least two overs to have a look, that was rash of him. Plus they watched the Irish struggle and knew it was not coming on. I still back Ervine. He's a class act, but he has not had a good run of it.
I'm going to get gunned for this, but Raza's extraordinary form is unlikely to continue.

Ya but Masakdza is decent enough, but for me doesn't offer enough. We always lose batsmen cheaply and I feel we are better off with an extra batter or an all-rounder. It's way too early to get excited about Madande. I also think Evans can feel aggrieved batting behind him.

Yeah Raza isn't going to keep clubbing 80 off 50 in every single game - once the quality of bowling went up a notch in the Super 12s, Raza struggled mightily. Williams, and Ballance will have to contribute.
Good comfortable win on a tricky surface in the end. The ODIs should be exciting as well.
