Truth is it's a poor squad. There is some doubt over Ervine's fitness for the first Test apparently too.

I'm not sure who thinks Tsiga & Gumbie are better keeper-batsmen than Marumani and Madande. That's incredibly harsh on the two youngsters. Madande has an excellent first class record.

Makoni/Maunze are udnerwhelming too but we have literally nobody else seemingly available.

I don't want Maruma anywhere near the squad, but he outperformed everyone else in the warm-up game, so you have to wonder what the point of that game was at all? He must be pretty annoyed.

All in all I think it is extremely disappointing that Burl & Raza are not available. You can understand it for Raza at his age and with him being so in demand globally, plus he's earnt the right to choose. But Burl should be here, 100%.

It's a brave "selector" that leaves Makoni out. He'll be captain in all 3 formats within 2 years.

Incredibly weak squad. Has Price Masvaure lost form? Kaitano could have been another option perhaps and Ben Curran was anyhow better than some of these players selected.

At least Williams and Blessing would have given me some hope. This is a nothing squad. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Makoni looked alright briefly before he got out. Wasnt afraid to play his shots. Needs to be a flat pitch which will break up on day 4/5 and zim bat first.
Happy to see tsiga in the side as well as Evans.
Kaia will be a great multi format player. Just needs time.

Disappointed with the squad but oh well going try and stay positive. My attempt at an 11 from the squad:

Kaia
Makoni
Ervine
Ballance
Chamu
Shumba
Tsiga
Mavuta
Wellington
Nyauchi
Ngarava /Chivanga (tough one to call)

Maunze
Gumbie
Tiripano
Evans

Wanted to fit Evans in there as 2 seamers seems a bit light, just lacking spin allrounders so we have to play both spinners. Kaia and Shumba should not be bowling in test cricket.

We need to play 3 pacers, not sure we can play Mavuta as one of 4 bowlers.

Campbell could have played and batted at 6 to offer another bowling option.
