Zimbabwe Vs West Indies | 1st Test | 4-8 Feb 2023 | Bulawayo

Post by secretzimbo »

Finally, after 18 long months, Zimbabwe returns to Test cricket.

Expectations generally seem to be incredibly low considering the squad selected, but you never know with Houghton's team. Let's hope we pull off our first ever win over the Windies in Tests.

No announcement on where this is being broadcast, but it is supposedly at least partly on ZBCTV here, and it looks like it might be available for free on ICC.tv in most countries.

Definitely on ICC.TV

Weather forecast looks average, but as we know the weather can change quickly in Zim

My final XI

Maunze
Kaia
Chamu
Ervine c
Ballance
Shumba
Tsiga wk
Evans
Mavuta
Chivanga
Ngarava

Bowling might struggle a bit to slow down the runs, but the best way to slow down the runs is to take wickets. I’ll be very disappointed if we see an attack of Tiripano, Wellington & Nyauchi that’s for sure.

Hopefully the West Indies actually bring the trophy over this time. You never know, Zim might pull off a miracle :)

The squad is so atrocious that Cricinfo has Tiripano at the top of both batsmen to watch and bowlers to watch from Zim

Unavailability aside, not picking Madande (and Marumani) must mean that this is the worst team selection for a test match with what is available since our reentry at the very least.

I’m actually really excited now for the test match. Got low expectations but it’s a big chance for lots of players to shine.

Even without Muzarabani we have a solid pace attack.

I don’t think it will be a walkover as people are suggesting, I think we will fight, especially now that we have the legend Dave Houghton as coach!

Come on Babwe!! 🇿🇼🇿🇼

Langton Rusere 🇿🇼 & Paul Reiffel 🇦🇺 Officiating.

Chabi as tv umpire.

Doubt there will be any speed guns or ball tracking for this series, so at least both umpires are decent.
