Don't want to hear any more nonsense about Brad Evans batting at 6 or 7, he's far from being a genuine batsman

Can they claim the extra half hour?
No not on Day 5

That rule is there to save the costs of having to come back for another day if the game can be ended earlier.

Not to extend the length of the match

I don’t think many said he’s a Test No.7 did they?

How does that 1st innings declaration look now? That was idiotic.
I guess it depends how much you value playing for a draw in a test.
How does that declaration help in getting a result when Zimbabwe were still trailing? They need to get those remaining runs anyways in their 2 nd innings. They could have literally tried to hit every ball and got out, I'm still ok with that, but how does the declaration help?

I idea was to get 10 or so overs at the Windies openers before stumps, a fairly standard tactic by batting teams for as long as I can remember.

If they were able to get two wickets before stumps, that puts them in a good position and brings them back into the game in regard to a win.

Why do we all watch cricket? Sport is nothing if it is not entertaining.

Better to lose trying to win, than spending 3 days clinging on to a draw

The intention I think was for WI to lose a couple of wickets before stumps yesterday, vs us amassing more runs in the remaining few overs hoping for a draw.

Right now, I value a draw a lot.

A) would give these guys a lot of confidence that they were able to draw with the Windies after the poor build up with injuries, players going overseas and the warm-up match debacle.

B) It keeps us alive in the series and who knows, a different pitch and we bat first next test maybe it’s Zimbabwe pushing for victory on Day 5

If they don’t want to draw matches, they need to produce ‘result wickets’ this is not a result wicket imo
Yes, at this stage/stage of you responding definitely.
As of 5pm yesterday.....more debatable.
