The Dutch seem to both proposer and suffer from the 'player eligibility sweet spot' they find themselves in.

Since they are still an associate nation they seem to have 'looser' rules around eligibility ie a player like Tom Cooper can switch between Holland & Australia much easier than Hilton Cartwright could.

They also get an advantage from the ancestor rules which help them pickup players from strong cricketing nations such as South Africa, Australia & NZ, whilst also benefitting from players from the sub continent who have relocated to the European nation and gained citizenship.

But it's a double edged sword, as the commitment they will get from such players is flimsy at best, due to the fact that if they will often prioritise other commitments before playing for the Netherlands such as Franchise competitions, County cricket or indeed playing for Test nations.

I'd be interested to know how many of these Dutch players have come from the Dutch system? Are the Dutch actually producing players or are they just picking up expat players looking for an international gig?

They produce plenty.

Their home internationals last year when their county players were unavailable, the squad was majority homegrown.

Who?

From that XI I posted only Bas De Leede, & Paul Van Meerken are proper dutch born players. Plus Vivian Kingma who’s also in the squad as well.

So who are these Dutch born, bred & produced from their system players?

Born in South Africa & Zim
RvdM
Glover
Myburgh
Baressi
Ackerman
Snater
Klein

Born in Aus
Cooper
Edwards (born in Tonga but raised in Aus)
Tim van den Gugten

Born in NZ
Logan van Beek
O’Dowd

England
Klassen

India/ Pakistan
Musa Ahmed
T. Nidamanuru
V. Singh

Pringle was actually born in Holland, but his father played for NZ so I’m not sure how much time he spent in the Netherlands or if he came through their cricket system?

Few other guys who don’t have cities of birth in their profiles, but as you can clearly see, the majority of their senior players & best players are expats or players with Dutch ancestry.

Raza confirms on Twitter that he will be available for this series. That's great news!

I don't think they do tbh. Take out all their foreign born players and they would seriously struggle.

Yea great news indeed in regards to Zimbabwe’s chances of winning the series. Also will give Dave to show his hand and let us all see how he plans on fitting everyone into the same XI.
