To me it’s just like the old nick names teams have in the EPL that don’t make sense or aren’t relevant anymore. It’s just an unofficial nickname that is very much entrenched.

Tbh most nicknames around the world have a somewhat stupid origin . They just end up sticking to the team. Personally, I don't have a problem with the 'Chevrons' but ig I ain't educated enough to be critical.
