2023 WCQ | non-Zimbabwe matches
Re: 2023 WCQ | non-Zimbabwe matches
I could certainly see Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago being competitive internationally. Maybe Guyana and Barbados? I remember they played as individual teams when cricket was included at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.

Barbados is the best I think

Just saw a convoy drive past towards Takashinga and it got me wondering why Zim is chosen to host these WCQs. With the sorry state of our roads and pretty much everything else except the lively atmosphere at the grounds, why does it make sense for ICC to go with Zim? You wonder if QSC, let alone Takashinga, has even changing rooms and related facilities to cater for WI or SL for example. Players who have been hosted at the best venues in the world.

UAE fail to win a game at this world cup qualifier

And the real mystery is them not demanding to know where all the money has gone that they keep sending for renovations

Ya it's weird - the last two CWCQ's. And the T20 Qualifiers last year. And the women's world cup qualifiers 2 years ago as well I recall?
Plus we are hosting the 2026 U19 world cup. And of course a handful of games in 2027.
TM has certainly made friends with a lot of people in the ICC in recent years. He's on a lot of the committees. I still think he's eventually setting himself up for another tilt at the top ICC job next time around.

The same money they've spent on Taka - if you spent that much on OH you'd have a seriously good second ground.

Add to that the influx of white South African players after the quota system in SA. McMullen, Sole and Greaves all are South Africanssecretzimbo wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 3:34 pmOver 150 cricket clubs, almost all with their own grounds and nets. Access to the English system, English leagues, universities, etc. And a very long cricketing heritage.

Zimbabwe Cricket must be doing something right to keep hosting all these tournaments.
