Craig Ervine's selection worries me. After watching him get dismissed yet again by a spinner yesterday (this time outfoxed by Malcom Waller's innocuous off spin), I'm left in no doubt the man has a huge weakness against spin. The last time I saw someone play spin as badly was Chamu Chibhabha and Vusi Sibanda some two years back.

Given that he bats in the middle order I don't know how Alastair Campbell and co. could willfully ignore that. We need him to perform now more than ever with Williams out

Craig Ervine's a very good batter but like you said Conant, he's really showing his true colours against the spinners. He genuinely can't get the ball away. I hope he sorts the problem out quickly because he's got so much talent.

1. B.Taylor
2. H.Mazakadza
3. T.Taibu (Wkt)
4. C.Ervine
5. C.Chibahba
6. R.Butterworth
7. E.Chigumbura
8. K.Meth
9. P.Utsea
10. R.Price
11. S.Mazakadza

12th man: Graeme Cremer-I've only left him out because of his poor form in South Africa. Utsea did a very good job of keeping it tight, and Ray Price will do the same with the added fact that he'll pick up wickets too. Cremer was unlcuky to miss out, but I've tried to stick to our strengths.
I see you have seen the light Mr. Sloandog - LOL!!! 2 Pacemen 2 spinners and 2 allrounders to share the other 10 overs. I really love this line up. Its just this captaincy issue that is still hovering in the air - Chigumbura is one of our best bowlers in Bangladesh and he really needs to bowl. This team is on METH!!!!!

here is my playing eleven
eugene wrote:Greg Lamb deserves to be selected ahead of Dabengwa. When does Dabengwa ever bowl more than 4 overs in a game and bat higher than eight. Dabengwa isn't a batter, bowler, or an all-rounder. What role does he fill in the team? At least Lamb can score a few runs and play an anchor type of innings with the bat, and he is a very effective bowler in the right conditions.
eugene debenga can strike ball better than lamb.
lamb is good for test cricket only.

Amit there are better players than Dabenwa. You need to face facts. So what if Dabenwa can hot the ball harder. We've got Chigumbura and Meth, and even Mazakadza jnr who can produce the fireowrls towards the end of the inning. Greg Lamb has a much better technique and is 10 times the bowler Dabengwa is.

Greg Lamb at least contributes with the ball. His bowling has actually won us some matches.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Before last T20 world cup Zimbabwe selectors were looking to be on right track with recall of so many former internationals like Blignaut and Doug Marillier but now it looks like they are again going in direction of their everlasting search. Its time for them to identify pool of players for all playing positions as world cup is just 87 days away. Instead selectors are still experimenting that also with no vision. I am not able to understand why Regis Chakabva is being tried when Taibu, Taylor and Coventry are all proven players for lone wicketkeeping position. Economically and consistency wise Greg Lamb has done much better than his spin counter parts still chance is being given to Keith Dabengwa and Greame Craemer. In recent tour of South Africa Zimbabweans were reasonably good with the bat but they literally collapsed with the bowl still no signs of urgency from selectors. Return of Ray Price is only good move. Ed Rainsford has been dropped inspite of great series against Ireland and strangely Shingi and Mpofu are able to survive. Keegan Meth and Butterworth have no real credentials as bowlers even in domestic Cricket. No idea what they would do with bowl against day by day getting stronger Bangladesh. Elton Chigumbara has also been very very ordinary with bowl after he became captain. In existing squad Ray Price is the only bowler who has credentials as international bowler. Besides him I would have loved to see Rainsford, Blignaut, Greg Lamb and Njabulo Ncube in this squad but unfortunately all of them are missing. I believe Chamu Chibhabha would have great burden to perform as bowler also in this series.

Is Graeme Cremer injured? he is not named in the Squad. Also did anyone on this forum go to the T/20 final?. I heard the atmosphere was amazing.
