Chatara needs to never play for his country again. That is for sure.

The big three needs some thinking. They are too good to move in from. Multiple retirements all at once is an issue though, although I don’t mind if they do look to go to the next cup

Anyone struggling to get over Zimbabwe's loss ? Especially when we see scot and neth fighting for the last spot today. Atleast we have T20 worldcup to look forward to next year

The player nobody really wants to talk about is Craig Ervine. Is he that irreplaceable? It's something people really need to think about. For example if Nick Welch commits to replace Craig Ervine would we say that's a massive loss?

It has to be a transition meaning that besides Chatara it's also good for us if 1 of the big 3 is replaced this year to start the process. Craig could be a decent batting coach actually and I have no doubt they will absorb him into the system and give him a decent farewell.

Sean Williams and Raza on the other hand have probably peaked right now

I guess the main question has to be how long the big 3 will stick around for. Especially Raza and Williams. Raza particularly. Do they have it in them to play another 4 years and finish with a home world cup? I doubt it. Maybe Raza could but the other 2 I highly doubt it. These are the conversations that need to happen first before we make our next moves. There is a World Cup next year too. Could that be the time for them? These questions need answers before the way forward can be planned
Well that's what they will be thinking. It's not the right answer. They need to get some new blood here right now, they've got the money. They need to get an HPC type set up operational ASAP. We need an even stronger franchise comp this year. We need more T20's, a lot more!!
Having a few games of everything in double quick time as as a bix ticking exercise and then resorting to North Vs South is not enuf!!!
Every game is a reminder that Associates are good teams, players are improving all the time. Scotland have been amazing. Theyre a better side than us with a lot less support, that is an unacceptable state of affairs. Big teams have pulled so far ahead it's just spooky.

They need to not waste money on grass roots, gov school cricket is a pipe dream. . Since theyve been half heartedly doing the grass roots thing more schools have stopped playing cricket. Focus the cash on good players they've identified. Churchill was the best option and they're done, it's broken. PE is close behind. Maybe they can help with those two schools.

Pay a nucleus of franchise players year round, unless they get a club gig. Make those teams a lot more professional.

Qualifying would have given schoolboys the much needed boost. There was so much riding on that bloody game.
Lean times are ahead unless admin is smart and responsible. We fall further behind every year. The bell is tolling.

Craig is currently a better player than NW and EB. He's a proper experienced quality international batsman. They may or may not catch up. You can't just arbitrarily asign one guy to replace him at some point. I said before they tried that with Wes and Milton. If only it were that easy. You need to be a great junior, do well at u19, but then you're at the next level, and it's a bridge too far for most.
If there was a known way to get a player from that level to the next someone would have perfected it by now.
You give a handful of them exposure and hope a couple have that bit extra.

They need to find a way of making club more competitive. It's improving, but there's a way to go. Franchise guys must play. Dirk needs to find sponsorship.

Definitely hurting me. I'm a tennis fan too and trying to watch Wimbledon to keep myself distracted.

It's going to take some time. No doubt about this. It was fucking disastrous that it had to happen. We don't get regular fixtures so it's not easy to move on quickly, like say, the West Indies.

Just to feel a little better we've got Afro Zim T10 followed by Afghanistan series in the UAE. Then the T20 WCQ starting Nov 20th, home series against Ireland in Dec/Jan and then a tour of Sri Lanka in Jan/Feb.

On paper that is a good schedule, let's hope it materializes and we don't fucking see any cancellations.

Dirk- General manager cricketing affairs
Makoni- Managing director
Masakadza- Director of Cricket

You tell me the difference in these posts. At least 2 have their feet up smoking cigars.

Thinking ahead to the 20 20 qualifiers and the world cup next year our weak links are actually Ervine at the top and chatara.
Need a swashbuckling batsman like Nick welch ideally.
Chatata is just about cooked in all formats now. Chivanga actually may do better in qualifiers against the tiny nations with his pace ( Namibia excluded) and scare sides but you know that he might be ineffectual should we make the world cup
