Yeah I think for me I'm very close to stop watching cricket altogether. I might already have had it not been for wonderful 12 months of Zimbabwe Cricket. I no longer find interest even in India games.sloandog wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 5:25 pmAnd then that's it. It's so shit. Our day for cricket was insane. Watching the boxing day test matches in Australia with Gregg, Chappel, Slater and Lawry commentating was where it was at, or the South Africa home series with Kallis and Smith causing chaos.
This Major League Cricket saying they want more England based players involved....fuck off. Focus on your national side who, to put it politely, were appalling this CWCQ.
As Googly said the days if Kallis, Donald, Ntini... Wow! And yeah the boxing Day test... I remember when I was in school this was broadcast on Star .. Lovely MCG and such beautiful battles McGrath and Warne used to have against the likes of Sachin, Lara and Inzamam... The yearly World Series (Tri series in Australia) was my most favorite tournament.
Recalling Zimbabwe... Those South African like Hard and Bouncy pitches.. At times Streak and the likes used to run through the opposition top order... It was so much fun!
Port of Spain, Sabina park... Facing Ambrose and Walsh... Man that got me going! Compare that with a slow and turning pitch WI have dished out here against India... It doesn't even look like we are playing in the West Indies... What a shame!
Cricket now is not even the shadow of the game I fell in love with. The game is very lucky that for some reason genuine fans like me have still stuck around watching it... But may be the end is near!

Yea it won't happen for ever. People are already tiring of these tournaments

This is the hope. Surely these T20 circuses can't go on for ever?

Is the Afghanistan series happening? I have severe doubts
Re: 2023-2031 FTP news, updates, etc
I'm pretty sure they think very low of us and don't think we offer any proper competition for them. I would be quite happy to turn our backs on them and focus on building relationships with sides like Scotland, Netherlands, or Namibia.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 9:20 pmIs the Afghanistan series happening? Afghanistan shuold not be competing against other Test sides or in ICC events. They have government interference and as a result should be banned like we were. The Taliban are active in limiting their womens team and the access to cricket.
I'd be quite happy to not play them any time soon. Netherlands have reached out asking for any team willing to play them. I would be taking them up on that offer, even if it is as games that have no ODI status and we field a B side. Be a perfect opportunity to start identifying some younger players.

Well we’re part of the problem. There was thread with several hundred posts just about Raza’s exploits in the IPL.
The IPL is the best of the T20 leagues, but it’s still a dog shit league. Stop talking and tweeting and retweeting about it and maybe these leagues will start losing money and fold.

I doubt IPL leagues base their success on ZCF discussions. BCCI bosses are hardly ZC selectors after all!
Speaking of which, time to get Melton in the team!

It's way too late for that. People have to accept the reality. I was just reading that the last IPL generated over 1.2 billion dollars in advertising revenue. 65% was generated directly by BCCI. It's never going to fold. ODIs were always going going be the first victim.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 11:42 pmWell we’re part of the problem.
