Is the Afghanistan series happening? I have severe doubts
I have serious doubts too, there is no news about this whatsoever and Afghanistan have Asia Cup lined up from 31st Aug, so it is very unlikely that this will happen. Even if it happens we might see only ODIs and T20s which Afghanistan might want to play as preparation for WC.
I don't care much about it though. As Zimbos said we are better off not playing them considering their attitude towards Zimbabwe. Already Aus, Eng, NZ are not willing to play against them and BCCI have also cancelled the series we were supposed to play.
Yea it won't happen for ever. People are already tiring of these tournaments
This is the hope. Surely these T20 circuses can't go on for ever?
ILT20 is definitely struggling. Apparently the owners have asked for revenue sharing to start immediately to cut down on their losses and ZEE, who are the official broadcasters have asked for renegotiation of the amount to be paid because the revenue from 1st season is far less that what they had initially estimated.... Moreover there are signs that 2nd season might be even worse.
Afghanistan shuold not be competing against other Test sides or in ICC events. They have government interference and as a result should be banned like we were.
What's your opinion on the other teams that do this, eg Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and (I think) Scotland?
I hear the criticism of T20 leagues for sure. I also reminisce about the old days. But at the end of the day they are popular for a reason.
The only thing I dislike is the homogenisation of teams/ownership groups. This new American league has real potential but it's a shame that last night was Texas Super Giants vs LA Knight Riders and I see there is a 'Mumbai Indians New York' too. That's the element I dislike.
Also seems the US league is trying entirely to just focus on Indian/Pakistani community and fans rather than actually trying to make things appealing to the wider local american market. That's a shame too.
Most of the leagues have basically become IPL-lites and seem to exist purely to make money for the same small handful of owners and to provide these irritating fantasy/dream XI kind of crap that Indians seem absolutely obsessed and addicted to.
The actual format and the gameplay is perfectly entertaining. Even the Hundred can be a good watch!!!
T10 is pushing it though. I am yet to be convinced.
Moan about SA not playing Tests, but money talks. They play in front of about 15 people for most Tests now.
Meanwhile the SA20 thing was a huge success. Has probably single handedly saved south african cricket.
Tests in South Africa are set up to fail though. The most recent test in Centurion was played after the summer and started on a Tuesday. Who is going to show up on a Tuesday at 10 AM during the work week? Put the tests on over the Christmas break and plenty of South Africans will show up.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Well we’re part of the problem. There was thread with several hundred posts just about Raza’s exploits in the IPL.
The IPL is the best of the T20 leagues, but it’s still a dog shit league. Stop talking and tweeting and retweeting about it and maybe these leagues will start losing money and fold.
It's way too late for that. People have to accept the reality. I was just reading that the last IPL generated over 1.2 billion dollars in advertising revenue. 65% was generated directly by BCCI. It's never going to fold. ODIs were always going going be the first victim.
You never know mate.
Things might turn ugly if we don't win the WC this year and also depending upon the results against Pakistan in the Asia Cup and the World Cup the viewership of the IPL will be impacted. This is my personal opinion because I firmly believe most of us enjoy IPL only if the national team is doing well.
More than the World Cup, I feel if the games against Pakistan don't go our way, then it won't be good.
I wish we win everything but I'm just being realistic, winning the WC is not easy and this time I think Pakistan have got a very good ODI team , their best unit in a long time.

Exactly the same. If the rules apply for one, they should apply for all.

Do people on this forum still not know that the reason Zimbabwe were banned for govt interference was because the ZC board requested they be banned with the stipulation that the ban would be lifted when the board were put back in place. The reason SL, PAK, AFG etc don’t get suspended is because their boards don’t officially protest the interference to the ICC.
