Is the Afghan series tour even going to happen ? Not a single bit of info on the tour.
Re: 2023-2031 FTP news, updates, etc
Back to actual FTP discussion, still no news on Afghanistan series. It looks more and more unlikely now.
I don't know what the Afghans are thinking because if they lose to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Asia cup first round, which is very much possible, then that is it. They have only those 2 games before the WC.
They don't have any other series planned. So a sane board would rather priorotize at least the LOIs against Zimbabwe.

No please no more Afghanistan. They can find other people to play. They are very much focused on the T10 for now

From the look of things we still have all the players on board. For now. Unlike 2018 this time from what I'm picking up they are blaming themselves more than anything. They feel like they owe us. We all know things can change overnight with guys like Sean but the vibe is definitely different from 2018. A farewell tour should be the very least if somebody is mentally drained.

Quite a few Afghans are coming for the Zim Afro T10 it would make sense to have at least a white ball tour afterwards

It is Afghanistan's home series and was supposed to happen in the UAE.Isaacweasle wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 7:06 amQuite a few Afghans are coming for the Zim Afro T10 it would make sense to have at least a white ball tour afterwards

It appears the series was postponed to sometime between February and June 2024 (probably March 2024).sam_ahm wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 11:19 amBack to actual FTP discussion, still no news on Afghanistan series. It looks more and more unlikely now.

No Afghanistan and no World Cup means Zimbabwe doesn't play until they host Ireland in December (1 Test, 3 ODIs and 3T20Is).

Yes, I just saw this too, Afghanistan have pushed this series to sometime between Feb and June next year. I think they will go ahead and play this sometime in Feb/Mar.
Zimbabwe actually have Africa T20WC Qualifiers from 20th Nov (A day after WC ends) so surely ZC may organize at least one series before that, probably with any of the associates, for preparation.
But yeah, this appears to be a long lean period for Zimbabwe. At least until November.

South Africa may end up sending a second-string team to New Zealand due to the SA20 and IPL.

Yeah I don’t know how any league outside the IPL and PSL make any money. Like who cares about South African domestic cricket? Even most South Africans don’t care about cricket? So where is the money coming from?
One would hope these leagues all fold in a few years. I can’t see MLC or ILT20 attracting any fan interest domestically or abroad.
