Yeah I don’t know how any league outside the IPL and PSL make any money. Like who cares about South African domestic cricket? Even most South Africans don’t care about cricket? So where is the money coming from?

One would hope these leagues all fold in a few years. I can’t see MLC or ILT20 attracting any fan interest domestically or abroad.
The SA20 sold out most games. Was a huge success, really big crowds.

And of course - it’s all about the Indian betting markets.

Yeah but betting markets are wholly unconnected to the actual league or anyone connected to the leagues. At least they are supposed to be. So how do the leagues make money off the betting syndicates?

Honestly, forget Afghanistan. They treat us like crap, it's about time we did the same to them and start looking at other nations to foster better relationships with.

I'm sure there are a number of links to betting markets to the owners. There is certainly a T20 bubble which is bound to burst though. No way all these leagues can survive, the financial model seems unviable for most.

I do agree, a lot of these leagues will struggle for relevance and already are.

SAT20 was a success though, BBL is also doing well... But most of them are beginning to struggle.

I think the problem stems from these leagues being started up by business men in countries where they are only doing so for the business benefit.

IPL, BBL and the Hundred are run by the boards, so their is some sanction to it and proper cricket acumen behind it.

The MLC, GLT20, UAE leagues, T10...these are just random leagues and are in countries that don't really have any criceketing acumen or relevance. It's purely about the money.

This Afro league has the potential to be something good for Zim/Africa, but the whole thing is just an Indian run competition and production. Indian hosts in the draft. Indian TV presenters. A category to sign Indian players. A lot of the signed up players being Indian, and so many of them are just kind of crap.

Someone posted a photo of TM in India last year or so and all I can imagine is that he sold everything to the Indians to make a quick buck

Ireland have barely scraped through against Italy by 8 runs in the first game of the Europe T20 WC Qualifiers. At this rate they will lose out to Jersey. 🤦‍♂️

Italy have got a really good squad. Was rooting for them hard just now. It will be hilarious if Ireland somehow miss out on qualification for this  But I think they will qualify in reality
