I thought todays attendance, in the second innings at least, was pretty good. Considering it was a match between an associate and a country that the local populace despises. Probably pushing 10k by the end which is probably better than you’d get in many full member host countries for that kind of neutral fixture.andrea lanzoni wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 3:42 pm.
Finally I wonder what is organizers calculation for todays match: anyone can see the pervasive empty stands, everywhere.

There were definitely several thousands in for ENG vs NZ. My guess was 20-25,000.andrea lanzoni wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 2:01 pmI presume you mean 4.700 not 47.000, right?secretzimbo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 9:40 amTbf there were 47,000 people in attendance yesterday which I believe is the highest gate ever for an opening match of a world cup.
It looked small because of the absolutely ridiculous size of that stadium. But thats still an excellent attendance for a neutral match.
Stadium capacity is 100.000. If it were 47.000 it means that half stadium was filled......
Unfortunately that was nowhere, the stadium was miserably deserted in every section.
By the way, todays Pak vs NL match doesn't look better: another almost all empty stadium.
Note that tomorrow there's BAN vs AFG. not a marquee match. Given the trend we can expect an attendance in terms of hundreds rather than thousands.

No way were 47,000 in attendance for the opening match. 20,000 at the most. Maybe they sold/gave away 47,000 tickets?

Apparently when I estimated 5.000 I have been optimistic.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 4:28 pmThere were definitely several thousands in for ENG vs NZ. It was 4.000: https://www.timesnownews.com/sports/cri ... -104185144
Pictures and video are astonishing
And here is the photo taken after 25 overs: https://www.hindustantimes.com/cricket/ ... 56030.html
Where is the remainder of 20.000?

There was easily, easily north of 20k by the 2nd innings. But you are really keen to press home this really quite trivial point, so carry on!

SZ is right. There was def aprox anywhere from 15-25K. I don’t know about 47K.Unless they were fake people manufactured for the cameras!eugene wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 11:00 pmSince when do you do the bidding of our Indian overlords?secretzimbo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 6:52 pmThere was easily, easily north of 20k by the 2nd innings. 4000 in a 100,000 seater stadium wouldn’t even be visible. Imagine 4000 at the MCG and you’ll have an idea.

since he did a great job of reporting 12k fans were at every Zim game in the qualifiers. BCCI said Secretzimbo is the man to count our attendance figures.eugene wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 11:00 pmSince when do you do the bidding of our Indian overlords?secretzimbo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 6:52 pmThere was easily, easily north of 20k by the 2nd innings.
