Finally I wonder what is organizers calculation for todays match: anyone can see the pervasive empty stands, everywhere.

I thought todays attendance, in the second innings at least, was pretty good. Considering it was a match between an associate and a country that the local populace despises. Probably pushing 10k by the end which is probably better than you’d get in many full member host countries for that kind of neutral fixture.

Tbf there were 47,000 people in attendance yesterday which I believe is the highest gate ever for an opening match of a world cup.

It looked small because of the absolutely ridiculous size of that stadium. But thats still an excellent attendance for a neutral match.

I presume you mean 4.700 not 47.000, right?

Stadium capacity is 100.000. If it were 47.000 it means that half stadium was filled......

Unfortunately that was nowhere, the stadium was miserably deserted in every section.

By the way, todays Pak vs NL match doesn't look better: another almost all empty stadium.

Note that tomorrow there's BAN vs AFG. not a marquee match. Given the trend we can expect an attendance in terms of hundreds rather than thousands.

There were definitely several thousands in for ENG vs NZ. My guess was 20-25,000.

SZ is right. There was def aprox anywhere from 15-25K. I don’t know about 47K.Unless they were fake people manufactured for the cameras!

4000 in a 100,000 seater stadium wouldn’t even be visible. Imagine 4000 at the MCG and you’ll have an idea.
