Unsure why people are discrediting Gumbie, he's the best option for an ODI opener at the moment. It's a shame the Kaia-Gumbie partnership hasn't materialised much yet, but I'm willing to double down on it succeeding if they get air time.
55% strike rates against associates just don’t cut it
Any idiot can block
I'll take the strike rate with keeping your wicket when we consistently have a top-order collapse. Kaia, Wes, Raza- they all go for it too early. Sean is guilty of it from time to time as well.

Gumbie played well against the USA, granted it was the USA, but also looked in sync with Craig against the Windies. I'm just not sure who is more appropriate in the opener position if Wes/Marumani disappoints time after time.

Looked at Gumbie's stats and they aren't bad at all. Buttttt...how much of that was padded against the likes of USA or Oman? From what I saw of him, he looked very limited.

But yes, its time to bring in fresh faces, fresh mindsets, and hopefully fresh results.

You can’t win big games with low strike rates. Look at how many 400 plus totals occurred this World Cup
It’s a negative mindset to choose a 30 from 50 balls

Would've liked wes to be dropped to have some responsibility instilled into him but oh hey.

Would've also taken musekiwa over mumba.
This would've been the perfect opportunity for ervine to make way but ig we're persisting.

Sad about Welch . Such a good prospect being wasted due to discipline it seems

So Kaia, Wellington, Welch and Chatara left out.

Regardless of the legal troubles Welch is in he has a top score of 25 after 7 T20s so not a crazy decision. Kaia is not a T20 player in my opinion and Wellington and Chatara underperformed.

Yup. Welch is going to have to grind it out for a bit. Can't blame them. He didn't take his opportunities.
