There are issues surrounding welch currently.
I'm pretty sure that he would've been in the squad if he got some runs in the 7 matches that he played in.

Just looked at Gwandu’s stats
Debuted in 2017 as a 19-year old. Didn’t realise he debuted so young, I guess that’s why I was surprised he’s still young. I thought he was a late bloomer ala Chingwara
His t20 stats are very modest, 11 matches for 3 wickets. Reminds me of when Innocent Kaia was selected for the t20 side with an average around 16 and strike rate under 100.

By your own admission there is still a soft quota.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 7:12 amWhat fucking quota system? This is the single most retarded take on the whole forum.
No more than 5/6 whites with the sub continent as being seen as white

That’s not my own admission whatsoever. There is no quota.ZIMDOGGY wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 7:20 amBy your own admission there is still a soft quota.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 7:12 amWhat fucking quota system? This is the single most retarded take on the whole forum.

Who exactly is missing out currently?!?!
There is bias and racism, sure. But there is quite clearly no quota.

Welch has some issues and Evo is injured. What other murungus are being blatantly overlooked despite being as good as or better than the squad for this series?
Curran has been in a dire run of form and Jono Campbell has potential but he’s just another middle order batter who bowls a bit of spin, the side is full of them.
There’s a few others who might make it one day but at the moment are largely unknowns and hardly banging the door down tearing up the domestic scene.
The only “quota” I see is the whole Shona/Ndebele thing which obviously doesn’t affect murungus.

Re: Zimbabwe vs Ireland one day and 20/20 series
Maybe there would be a quota if we suddenly had 30 world class whites playing in the country, yeah.
But currently there are about 5 and all of them are in the team with regularity.
They paid a fortune for Ballance.
They shoved Welch straight into the team, way before anyone expected.
They’ve thrown Bennett in exceptionally early etc etc.
Any suggestion there is currently a quota is so far off the mark.

Him taking ZC’s dollar knowing full well he’d retire after getting a test hundred for two countries and playing all three formats for two countries was even more of a gangster move than BT taking Mr X’s 15k with no intention of fixing
Re: Zimbabwe vs Ireland one day and 20/20 series
Still begs the question why perennial failures like Marumani and Madhevere are always persisted with but never a chance for Campbell or a very short rope for Nick Welch (as compared to Marumani) same we saw with Chatara and Evans. . Very long rope for Chatara but Evans used to get dropped quickly.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 7:32 amMaybe there would be a quota if we suddenly had 30 world class whites playing in the country, yeah.

There is no official quota, I understand, but for outsiders like me, it always appears as if there is some biasedness towards black players.
