One thing I'll never understand about crowds in Zim is why nobody gets there for the first ball. Churches should have finished by now so that's not an excuse. Always halfway through the match before people turn up. A very different culture to, say, England, where everyone gets there for the toss!

“Everyone” being one man and his dog turning up to watch a midweek county Champo fixture.

I mean for international matches haha.

I never get the championship crowd criticism anyway. 400 people turning up on a Tuesday morning in Durham in early May to watch some sedate cricket always seems like an excellent attendance to me.

Our domestic first class matches struggle to get more than 15 in attendance even on a weekend in beautiful weather.

Don't blame him for being nervous though. Done nothing in his first two matches and then promoted to an unfamiliar batting position with all the pressure in the world. It's a bit unfair. Hope he sees it through.

Interesting that neither Kaia not Shumba have been called up despite so many players being unavailable.

Shumba has had a rapid fall. Until last year he was doing so well.

Definitely not blaming him for being nervous, was more of a question to those who have seen more of him.

He’s played a few pull shots already this innings, certainly no Ricky Ponting that’s for sure.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Doesn't look comfortable at the crease.
