Marumani needs to be given the Shumba treatment. They both need to grind like how Gumbie, Kaia and Campbell had to grind. Or even how they have made K-Long really work for it. A lot of his issues have to do with inexperience as well. There was no need for him to try go that hard against one of the best spinners around when Bennett was striking the ball like that.

Competition for spots is going to heat up over the next 12 months. It’s on a matter of time before Nick Welch gets it right. Add Myers, Welch Jr and maybe even Dane then suddenly the “youth prospect” tag won’t be enough to get a spot anymore . Wes will also likely come back with a point to prove. BT’s ban is not that far away from being over. It won’t be easy to get into the team by the end of next year.

Interesting. Whether it’s true or not is not the point for me. What worries me is that these retirements can still happen much closer to the 2027 World Cup. If it’s true I hope they play the India series as a farewell for the home fans and the Ireland test as the final game

After Bennett's innings there's potentially only one slot for him to compete for. They're likely to give Madhevere another shot and definitely Myers.
Craig is going to have to knock the NPL out the park.

Dion myers has been back sporadically. Scored a double century in first class this January and faced Pakistan shaheens last year with some 50s.

Would take him to Ireland if available

That’s was a marvelous innings by Bennett. He’s going to be a star. It’s because he understands the game well and he’s already had at least 3 useful to match winning knocks in his career. This was not that easy a pitch to bat on.

Really solid performance.

Nice to snag a win, I was never optimistic about 2-3 or better.

I watched the highlights
I noticed that all of Bennett’s shots weren’t smooth and had an element of clumsiness to them.
Compare to Razas hits which were smooth and closer to standard international hitting.
I don’t want to be megafauna but he got dropped 3/4 times early on which doesn’t happen often… and the winkiness of it makes me wonder if he can keep it up.
That said- he’s blown away other youngsters and could ill lol Leone and refine and for his age he is doing well and I’m genuinely excited at his emergence.
