T20 WC 2024
Re: T20 WC 2024
Ya the decks are good. Brings the ball into it a bit more. 400 run matches are boring. Some of the games have looked seriously hard going to make the runs.
Re: T20 WC 2024
This is the most I've ever enjoyed T20 cricket and it is because the batsmen are often having to work for runs and the bowlers have a fighting chance. I gave up watching the IPL this season as the run scoring was out of control, it was like watching the NBA All-Star game. Even the lacklustre Donald Bradman would have cleared the ropes in this years IPL.

Re: T20 WC 2024
I didn't realize that the ICC have, in their wisdom, pre-seeded the Super 8's regardless of the standings in the group stage. India will be A1 whether they finish first or second in the group for example. So the group stage is only relevant in determining who qualifies, but not how they are seeded.
After the group stage, the top two teams in each group will be placed into two groups of four teams in the Super 8 stage. This will be played as a single round-robin, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stage. Prior to the tournament, the ICC announced the eight seeded teams for the Super 8 stages — Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies. Should they advance from the group stage, they will be placed in pre-determined positions, regardless of whether they finish first or second in their group. If an unseeded team qualifies at the expense of a seeded team, they will directly replace said team in the Super 8 group. No points are carried over from the group stage to the Super 8.

I can’t keep up with the changes, wasn’t the last World Cup Super 12’s ?
Re: T20 WC 2024
Namibia were made to look like a school team. Brutal stuff
Re: T20 WC 2024
All matches in Florida are set to be washed out. USA will make the Super 8s and that is the end for Pakistan and for Zimbabwe's direct qualification chances.
We have to hope Africa gets 2 qualifying slots, else it's a tough road for Zimbabwe.

That can change quickly. Need India to tonk USA today. Also weather forecast can change in matter of days. Hope for a limited game if there are rain issues for USA vs Ireland match.
Does USA make next world cup by virtue of being at super 8s? Thought it was based on rankings

Looks like sam_ahm is right. He’s been following this closer than I have. Looks like hosts + Super 8 teams qualify automatically. That is 8-10 slots. That means 2-4 slots are based on the next highest ranked sides.Donald wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2024 10:39 amThat can change quickly. At the moment India and SL qualify as hosts. SA qualify as the only confirmed Super 8 side, atm.
The rest of the Super 8s will probably still see some shuffling but it’s possible that BAN, AFG, AUS, WI, USA, and SCO make the rest.
If so, 9 teams qualify automatically as hosts + Super 8s, leaving 3 slots remaining from the rankings table. NZ, ENG, PAK would take those to make the top 12. Ireland and Zimbabwe would come next I believe but that means they have to go through regionals.
