Breaking news on twitter is that antum navqi is close to obtaining a zimbabwe passport and may even be included In squad to face India if it comes in time

Hopefully the “source” is correct this time. India is a tough debut. Very tough. Having Dion back, Nick finally finding a bit of form plus Naqvi in the mix. Add Campbell and Bennett’s performances in Bangladesh. Wouldn’t be a bad winter at all. It’s time to build for the future

I also don’t really care how he got it. We have other countries violating the rules and getting away with it

Well they've completely fudged the national passport and citizenship laws.

For clarity, to obtain a Zim passport with no Zim heritage, you are supposed to reside in the country for ten continuous years.

He's not even playing NPL - he's playing club in England (anyone any idea how he's been doing, and what level?)

I don't know actually on the eligibility front. I genuinely can't recall any other example of a country actually getting their government to gift a full passport and permanent citizenship straight up to a newly arrived cricketer. I don't think it has happened before.

All the other examples of so-called 'imports' for countries usually do the three-year full-time residency to qualify.

Interesting to see the team dynamic if this happens. There will be guys in that change room who really won't like this and how he's been parachuted in.

At least 100k has changed hands to make this happen.
Minister Coventry has learnt well
I'd love to see the breakdown of who got what. Now that would be breaking news from Adam Theo.

If Salmon has got any sense he'll demand 10k for parachuting Knackers into the squad. May as well blood himself from day 1. Another 10k for the captaincy.

To be honest I would take him. That is just my personal view though, purely because I want Zimbabwe to do well and I think he will strengthen the side.

He plays for Stokesley CC in the North Yorkshire and South Durham league. Village cricket basically, the kind of league where your 2nd or 3rd XI will be mixed; men and women. (Can almost hear Lanzoni and Kriterion’s jaws dropping at this).

Considering he got a record breaking triple ton in the professional Logan cup, I’d have expected him to boss it, but he hasn’t. I’ll generously say his performances have been mixed. I haven’t checked up on every game but the ones I have, there’s been no blistering ton or anything.
