Marumani, Myers, Campbell, Burl and Bennett all definitely in the squad and Ervine is definitely not. (Per Rangers squad for tomorrow’s NPL).

Not that any of that is overly surprising. Evans not in either squad - injured again.

Yikes, we are looking at Faraz playing again at this rate. Fast bowling resources are very thin.

I’d rather have another look at Gwandu, he wasn’t great first time around but looks like he had something to work with and could improve. We’ve seen Faraz’s ceiling. But we know he’ll be in most squads going forward for the next few years. For several reasons….

Blessing, Jongwe and Faraz are certainties in the squad so I guess the other choices for the squad are 1 out of:
- Nyauchi/Gwandu/Chats/Chivanga.

Second spinner will be interesting too, to join Wellington.
- Mavuta/Muzondo.
Mavuta straight back in? Or are they going to back Muzondo? I’m not sold on Muzondo at all tbh. I can’t believe Mufudza didn’t even get in the regional squads?!?! Still taking wickets for fun in the NPL.

We can assume the batters include Marumani, Myers, Campbell, Burl, Bennett, Raza, Madande and Naqvi which leaves space for probably just 1 out of the following in the squad,
- Wes/Innocent/Gumbie/Shumba

Which gives a squad of 15 (4 seamers, 2 spinners, 9 bats/all-rounders).

Is Myers back full time now? If so thats massive news as there's a decent New 3 emerging with Bennett, Campbell, and Myers.

The fact you think that selection is the only issue in our cricket is very concerning.

Good selections would help us improve by about 1%.

The issues are so much deeper and worse and more serious. Picking 8 white players wouldn’t make us world beaters suddenly mate.
1% better cmon that's a ridiculous comment. You pick players that are suited to the format you are playing it's pretty simple. White or black I don't give a flying f###. It just so happens that imo the better players are white. N.Welch , Bennett , Campbell, Myers , Raza , Burl , Madande are the best options in the t20 format as batsman but they will play Shumba , Gumbie , Marumani and fail dismally again.
You are the ridiculous one because you focus all your effort on attacking players and calling them 'dismal' etc without recognising the catastrophic shortfalls in our system and our environment that unfortunately are never likely to change.
Obviously sometimes selection is poor. And that doesn't help us. But you can take literally any 11 players from our entire country at present and they won't hit the heights we all want them to and there's much bigger systemic reasons than just selecting Gumbie.
I urge you to follow the game more closely, and to direct your complaints at the real deep reasons for our 20+ years of failure instead of just hurling abuse at our players.
Not rating some players is not hurling abuse , gee you are very sensitive. My biggest beef is some players get a much longer rope than others and its very inconsistent and unfair.

By the way Secret selector , I actually really like Gumbie as a batsman as I've stated before. He just isn't a t20 player even you should be able to see that. Perfect 50 over and test cricketer.

Myers at 3, Naqvi 4, Raza 5, Burl 6, Madande 7

Bennett opening with...Marumani?

I don't really know who on Earth opens. Our middle order is stacked. Not really space for all three of Campbell and Naqvi and Burl all in the same XI either.

For me I'd force Naqvi to open tbh. That's the vacant position.

People might disagree but if Craig isn’t playing T20s anymore then I don’t see why Gumbie can’t open. I would pick him to open against India over Marumani for example because we are going to be under serious pressure from the first delivery. The least they should do is give Marumani, Gumbie and Madande a couple of games each then we can assess who is the better option.

Burl and Campbell can play in the same team if Gumbie or Marumani are opening. I also do think it’s the right time for Craig to step aside from this format too. There is an important test in a few weeks. He can focus on that. Burl should move up the order
