The cricinfo article mentioned Naqvi’s selection is subject to citizenship status, is that all but guaranteed?
Pretty much a formality I think. He really is a great example for all the other domestic players looking to get into the Zimbabwe team. Amazing what can be done if you score big.

Burl and Ervine have been very average in T20 for a long time now. Hopefully for Burl it doesn’t affect his selection for the Ireland Test because I think he is still one of the first names to be picked along with Williams and Ervine

My XI for first game:
Marumani
Bennett
Raza
Naqvi
Campbell
Madande
Jongwe
Masakadza
Akram
Muzarabani
Ngarava
My lineup
Wes
Bennett
Shumba
Raza
Wk madande or Marumani
Naqvi
Jongwe 2 games and Campbell 3 games
Mavuta 3 games and welly 2 games
Ngarava if fit Akram otherwise
Chatara
Blessing

Zimbabwe Corrupt Union has struck again , quota system guarantees that the downward spiral will continue for zim cricket. I see the golden child is back again with his mate Milton Shambles. Burl who is the only batsman capable of scoring quickly as a finisher in this format apparently not in the best 17 players 🤣🤣🤣 Equally amusing is bringing Chatara back , why ? If he was a gun bowler I'd be happy for him to be in the Squad but he isn't and he cannot bat so I say again why ? It's obvious that the coach gets zero input in selection so you may as well save the money and appoint a witches hat instead.

Poor squad. Burl out is ridiculous.

Chatara 😂😂😂 may be they want him to get thrashed so much by India that they can finally dismiss him forever.

Faraz Akram again 😂😂😂 complete joke

Marumani again...he will probably end up with 100 matches at an avg of 5!! 😂😂😂

Shumba, I'm not sure if he has done anything of note to merit a place.

... And then everyone wants us to believe that ZC is not racist?
Tbh Burl's omission is unbelievable.

Chatara - he can definitly claim his spot because he played decently after his exclusion from national squad.

Faraz - only reason he is there because of evans injury.

Marumani - Backup keeper and unsurprisingly he bossing the domestic arena.

Can you please point out the reason you felt ZC is racist. I can't digest how can anyone randomly say board is recist when a white player omitted but they are blind when black player not even considered for regional squad !
Lol, then don't digest but they've been racist for 20 years now! Burl's omission itself is an example when perennial failures like Marumani and Shumba are selected over him.

Welch getting dropped after a few failures, Evans always got dropped after one or two failures, Jonathan Campbell got his chance after so long and I won't be surprised if he gets dropped on having a poor series here.

I don't even want to go into the past more so because I don't argue with fools, so stay in your fantasy world.
Spot on and to add to this if Ervine and Williams were still available then you can guarantee Bennett and Campbell wouldn't be playing.

A shining example of how important it is to have money, how corrupt Zimbabwe is, and a further example of how you need to play reasonably well and then have a friend, relative, supporter or cash to make the side, irrespective of your nationality or allegiance.

We haven't seen him for 8 months. In this neck of the woods good form lasts for at least 8 months, as does poor form. It's something in the water- lead or cadmium I think.

I would love to know how much rope they're going to give him if he has a bad start? One of the reasons 4 ducks would be of huge interest. Would he play the the 5th?

I know I get gunned for this, but Clive gets way too many free passes. I don't think he's as good as everyone else does. You need more than a fast hand swipe over cow.
I'd always persevere with Marumani as keeper and find someone else to replace Clive. This post guarantees he makes runs. I'm having a bad time of my predictions of late
Madande doesn't need a free pass Googly as he hasn't failed like Marumani has on numerous occasions. Quite bizarre that you don't rate him.
