Not that surprised with Burl getting dropped tbh. He's been poor in his past few games. No idea how Kaia got into the squad. Also has this Sammons guy arrived in Zim yet?

Jongwe and Chatara? Have we really not learnt with these guys. We clearly have not tried hard to develop alternatives. If Burl get's dropped, then Chatara needs to be too.

Thanks Googly, money talks as they say. Interested to see if this sets a precedent going forward.Googly wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 5:38 amA shining example of how important it is to have money, how corrupt Zimbabwe is, and a further example of how you need to play reasonably well and then have a friend, relative, supporter or cash to make the side, irrespective of your nationality or allegiance.
We haven't seen him for 8 months. In this neck of the woods good form lasts for at least 8 months, as does poor form. It's something in the water- lead or cadmium I think.
I would love to know how much rope they're going to give him if he has a bad start? One of the reasons 4 ducks would be of huge interest. Would he play the the 5th?
How has this gone down with the squad?

Nobody will ever know, will they? Everybody in there just grateful they're playing and won't rock the boat. Opinions get your head cut off.PommiePom wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 12:03 pmThanks Googly, money talks as they say. This is a very high visibility series because India is involved and we've won the T20 World Cup. This is the first series as World Champions although the squad is completely different.
Very rightly pointed out that Burl is the only 'finisher' Zimbabwe have got and now they rely on Madande to do that job, and he is not a finisher or a big hitter lower down. Burl is also heavily built and hence has more muscle to clear the ropes unlike Shumba, Madande, Wes, Marumani who lack muscle for big hitting.
It will be interesting to see the playing XI. I can't see Marumani making the XI. It will most likely be:
Madhevere
Kaia
Bennett
Raza
Myers
Naqvi
Campbell
Madande
Chatara
Ngarava
Muzarabani
Raza is a proper bowler and they will bank on Wes, Bennett and Naqvi to do the 5th bowlers job. We saw that in the last game against Bangladesh that Zimbabwe are looking to make use of their spin allrounders and I think that will continue.
The other option is to have Wellington ahead of Chatara but I guess 3 pace bowlers are a must against India (no matter how crap Chatara is)
