Salmon timed his arrival well. Not here long enough to take blame for a 5-0 hiding but will happily take credit for a surprise win.

Matsi as fielding coach is downright hilarious

‘Salmon decided to retain him’ - ya sure

His sole job is to act as mole. Give ZC the inside track on Salmon and co. Fielding coach is such a non-job and was Matsi even a fielder of note? He’s just ZC’s inside man.

Other appointments sound okay. Let’s see how they go. I am still unconvinced Salmon has the pedigree and experience to deal with international cricket and all of our problems but let’s see. I wish them all well.

I wonder if there are any performance clauses in his contract? We know there won't be any break clauses for dropped catches , but is Salamander contractually obliged to win anything?

I also wonder if he's obliged to be around between games?
That's always been the problem. These guys convene days before a series and they're at the airport before the last ball is bowled. Even Houghton appears to be a AWOL at the moment. The hard work has to be in the off periods, not 48 hours before game time. Being a Fat Cat in ZC is easier than retirement.
This is the time coaches should also be taking a look at fringe players, not relying on Mutendira's say so because Mutendira Jr got 47 against the Binga Eleven.

The talk of foreign franchise coaches appears to have died a natural death. There's our next snag, no prep for franchise, Reshuffling of players and coaches between franchises in another endless and pointless cycle. Nobody will know where they've been assigned until the day before the first game.

Things are improving marginally. The standard has inched up over the last couple of seasons in both club and franchise, but still most things leave a lot to be desired.

Langeveldt is a good appointment. He has very good international exposure as a coach. I'll be keen to see if Ebrahim makes a difference to the batting or if he just making up the numbers. Wishing all the staff the very best!

Looking at how it’s going so far with the other appointments and everything it’s clear that the new coach convinced the board during his interviews. Looks like someone with a plan. Something different too. Let’s see how it goes when they play

Old salamander

The next African Games is a must win for him, everything else is no pressure. He’s contracted to one photo opportunity a month to keep his face public, turn up the morning of the match and the rest of the time is his own. Prep is overrated. Winging it is the modern approach.

Some of you are being incredibly harsh to Sammons. The guy saw a job and applied for it. Not his fault that ZC is such a shit show that no other big names applied. He can only deal with what is handed before it.

Granted he is not the biggest name, but he deserves a shot. If he fails, then sure, criticise him. At the end of the day too, the players have to put in the hard work and as we all know, quite a few of our players buckle the moment someone suggests they put in some effort.

The one who should be getting all the flak is Matsi. That man is stealing a living. Teams do have fielding coaches, but no chance in heck is Matsi a good fielding coach.

Yeah instead of making fun of the guys name, can't you just wish him well and wish him to be successful? Dude could be the greatest coach out there.

My team in the NBA, the Boston Celtics, hired a no-name coach by the name of Joe Mazulla cuz their previous coach got caught sleeping with the owner's wife - not making that shit up. True he was already inheriting one of the top 5 teams in the league, but one known for bottling it in the playoffs and underachieving with their talent. First year, he makes it all the way to the Conference Finals (the NBA semifinals if you will), and his team bottles it. But this year, in just his 2nd season as a head coach, the Celtics became one of the most dominant sides in NBA history and ended up winning an NBA record, 18th Championship.
