So after 8 international t20s Faraz Akram now has a bowling average of 100 with an economy of over 10.

Remind me what the selectors see in this guy?
Averages 30 with the bat at a SR of 133. Solid.

Can we try Bennett and Raza up the order again?

Not sure what else they can do to improve the batting with this squad. Too many passengers who don't look suited to T20.

Who would believe ZC and the Zimbabwe Government have done their bit for Naqvi but it's the ICC who ends up screwing us.

Yes  it’s gaining momentum.

They showed a graphic in the india powerplay showing the top 5 opening strike rates since some arbitrary date in 2023. Jos Buttler was 5th place striking at 146, that’s streets ahead of anything we’ve got.

Bennet @140 (small sample rate obviously) and Raza @133 are our best.

Guys clamouring for Ponzo; he’s similar to Wez - 117 vs 118. Granted he’s often been the last man standing and had to play within himself, so he could have a higher ceiling.

Bennett went for 3 cut shots for one that he missed instead of just smoking them up and over for 4, then cut one straight to cover and out.
There was a big gap there. He wasn't looking at his options properly. Just a mistake, hopefully he'll learn.
Hope he isn't mentally cramping up already. Easy to do. He probably was told last game he played one too many shots in that over and then this game he will be told he should have played the shots

Myers with two overs to go when he should have been swinging with every fibre got out trying to dink a slower ball for a single. I really don't like this mindset.
That's what he did last game. Almost looks like he's trying to look after his innings. I'm not saying he is....yet... but if he's in that position again tomorrow and repeats it then we'll know. He has to play the big shots when required. I think he's got them in his locker.
If he's worried about his spot he need not. He's in until old age sets in. He has Wes status.

Antum Navqi will never play for Zimbabwe until he completes his 10year residence in Zimbabwe and renounce the Belgian and Australian citizenship he has. That’s the hill I’m willing to die on. I shortcuts no corruption. ICC questioned ZC after alarm was raised.

Since when did renunciation of other citizenships be a factor?
It was about 30 years ago, but I believe it was changed.
You can get an investor's passport/citizenship as well so that 10 year requirement is no longer relevant either.
My guess is that the issue is he hasn't completed his 3 year residency, which is an ICC requirement.
I don't know what that entails-
Is it 3 years in total or is it 6 months and 1 day per year?
Prepared to bet that's where the issue is.

It's a minimum of 183 days per year in the preceding 2 years, not sure what needed to be done in the first year, presumably unimportant. Just looked it up.

I'm sure that's where the issue is. And I doubt there's too much wiggle room with ICC in this regard because it's now a public issue and they can't have other countries pointing fingers at them.
He could of course doctor his passport. Immigration will gladly stamp a few dates.

If they stick to their guns he'd be looking at another 2 years because I don't recall him being here for more than half the year at all. Plus they'd now have copies of his passport pages. Might be wrong of course.

We do need him, I've changed my mind

Totally it will be the ICC residency requirement he’s not met, they have no jurisdiction over member countries immigration laws do they

183 days a year for either 4 or 7 years. Guess that’s down to the country, like England used to be 7 years until they wanted Jofra for the 2019 World Cup so reduced it. No idea how outdated that is, I had it in mind it was 3 or 3.5 years.

The two years is women bro. Men are 4 or 7.

Immigration can doctor his passport but he’s on YouTube playing for his Pakistani side and that English club

Icc requirement is 3 years. He's done that but probably messed up on days per year.
