South Africa Emerging Tour

Post by zimfan1 »

A South African emerging side is touring Zimbabwe in August. 2 four day matches and some white ball games.

Who are they going to play against? Zero strategic planning by ZC as per normal.

Games are going to be in Bulawayo.

Another absolute smashing loading..

The most embarrassing thing is that Kent were quite happy putting in schoolboys against what's supposed to be a strong side. They know we're useless, unprepared and clueless. We have become a joke to the cricketing world.

We are in absolute freefall, there's no stopping it.

There are still some "u25's" here. Stick in a few 35 year olds as is customary and we will at least field a team. God help us.

At some point we have to question whether they are doing this just to spite us

2 months in England - no T20's. SA Emerging tour - no T20's. It's almost as if it isn't the format we play most often at international level, and most desperately need to improve at? See Salmon press conference comments last week stressing that he believes red ball cricket is the key to better T20 skills. No doubt that's why he got the job. Very few dinosaurs still believe this. Happily, they've all found each other in the ZC setup.

Not to worry though - they are doing the 7-day T10 match fixing thing again in September in which probably maximum 8 Zim players will get picked for and most will bat at number 9 and not bowl. Perfect! Maybe they'll bring Hamilton and Regis out of retirement to take up two of the spots again like last year. No doubt Williams and Ervine will get two of the coveted spots too, despite retiring from T20I.

It's all just such a great smart coherent plan. Well done ZC.

There is a squad listed on the app for this and it contains no players who are either in England or Ireland. So it is feasible? If so it’s certainly an interesting squad. Might be bollocks though

Ali Frost, Antum Naqvi, Arineshto Vezha, Brandon Mavuta, Carl Mumba, Emmanuel Bawa, Innocent Kaia, Kuda Macheka, Nick Welch, Nyasha Mayavo, Ronak Patel, Ryan Kamwemba, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Tapiwa Mufudza, Tinashe Muchawaya

Frost is in Ireland. Probably doesn't even know he's been selected

I'm not sure how Bhawa gets parachuted into the squad either. He's a decent player and all, and a ZC favorite, but if you're going to parachute anybody why not go with Matigimu or Matt Welch who's opened successfully for Eagles? Or all 3? They're all good.
My question mark with Bhawa is what cricket has he played of late? Have they even seen him in the last 6 months? Picking Frost over Welch Jr is just strange.
One has had a great impact as an opener and he's just turned 20 and last time I checked we needed openers over a guy that's not here, probably hedging his bets and is not as good a prospect. He's decent though, I rate him.
Something really amiss there. Plus as I said they probably think he's in Harare, but they're about 10 000km out and probably hasn't even been contacted.

Once again short of batters. Watch Macheka. I'm pleasantly surprised they've noticed real talent. I doubt they noticed, somebody told them. With coaching he could end up being a 145 guy, the answer to our prayers.

Macheka is wild. People rave about him but all I ever see him bowl is massive wides. Probably has potential but needs a lot of coaching and taming.

Great to see Muchawaya get a look in he has been massive for the Westside in the NPL.
