Welch for me at least at the moment is a limited overs player and not a test player ( Yet!!)

Navqi after watching him today going through different gears slowing down when the South African with 4 wickets came back on and then seeing him out and feasting is a clever guy. He respects ball on merit and knows when to feast and when to defend. Values his wicket immensely and has all the shots.

Sort eligibility and he will be a multi format player.

Kaitano is a test player for sure. Unfortunately for him Prince and Gumbie are doing ok.
I don't see many of the others making the grade out of the newer players. Obviously mavuta is good but as Googly mentioned needs to leave the swinging new ball on occasions. Being playing God knows how many first class matches to work that out himself.

He's played endless 4 day cricket in UK as an opener, but is probably better suited as a 4 or5.
Again he got a really good ball, he was seeing it like a football yesterday.
If you don't think he's better than Prince, Madhevere, Myers, Kaitano, Bennett, Madande, Campbell, Frost, Burl etc in any position in any format you're watching a completely different game. A decent coach will take one look and say ok this guy can play. Instead we have to rely on the blessings of Mutendira and Co who will waste more years on lesser players.
Whilst they keep this guy in the mix we're going nowhere. Singlehandedly sending us quickly down the drain. Which other test nation has a failed bowler with a serious chip on his shoulder as their selector? I'll wait. He knows nothing about batting. Zip.
2027 is the last time we play in a WC. It's set in stone unless they completely revamp the system and put proper people in the right places. They'll panic and make some changes on Dec 31 2027. It's the way of Africa.

As a fact he put some belief into that line-up yesterday. It wasn't even baz-ball, he was getting hit me balls and he was hitting them. Without that innings the others (barring Knackers) would have been going at a 20% strike rate afraid of their own shadows.
Gumbie is a better test opener, he is fast approaching being an international quality opener, but we'll never know because we rarely play the big teams. Watch NW this season, he had a shit time of it of late but I predict he's back with a bang. Of course the umpires might decide to set him back another year, depends what instructions they get.
They're also waiting for Matt Welch to get his average over 50 before they'll take a look, but hoping it slides below 25 so they can stick with the current guys. To have Bawa, Patel, Kamwemba and Masunda in this side ahead of MW is worth a public enquiry.
I know it's early days but go into the stats and find me a Zim opener with an average of over 45
Go back 30 years if you like.

If you think he's not good enough to open then stick him at 6 where the batting is twice as easy, maybe he'll average 80.

Yea I've seen articles on David mutendera and he acts like he has two chips on either shoulder. I don't doubt that it would have been hard for him in his formative years and his test debut sounds horrific as far as team cohesion and support goes.

I hope all this doesn't cloud his judgement and he can remain objective.

I'm a big fan of the Welch brothers. There may be a new gang in town come the next logan cup and domestic with mathew Campbell and Jonathan campbell. Mathew has scored lots of 90s in the NPL

This was a real statement innings from him today, you can tell that he is a fiery character. Feel guys like Welch and Naqvi would add some bite to the national side.

Blessing and Richie can give it out a bit but none of the young batters have it in them.
