He's about our only bowler that rarely bowls a bad ball. Unbelievably consistent. If he just turned it a little more he'd be world class. Still very good though.

No this is a decent side.
Game was lost at the toss. They're playing on a completely different pitch.
TK got a really good ball.
Welch went for an almost half volley drive that was probably on but it swung and nipped.
Knackers got a good ball that he probably should have left.
I didn't see Kaitano's wicket.
Really tough batting conditions in the first 10 overs.
4 of our best batters didn't get runs.

We'll win if we bowl first. I'll guarantee it.

Our seamers had nothing to work with and bowled poorly.
Spinners have bowled well and on deck that's playing true.
So Kaitano is a wicketkeeper..
Anything besides Madande will work..Time to move on..

People said that about Wellington Masakadza too and he'd struggle to get into any top 15 side as a specialist spin bowler.

Mavuta hasn't made a case for himself which means we are going to see Wellington for a much longer time.

Kaitano and Frost both could be in the frame for international selection.

I'm surprised the leg spinner Chesa hasn't been tried out in these A games. Took 4 wickets against Durham last year if I remember rightly.

Wellie is a good bowler and can bat. Somehow as with most/all, Salamander has to drag him/them up a notch. He doesn't have the pressures of playing for a spot all the time. He can play with a much clearer head, and he probably does.
Bones is probably a better bowler, but he's nowhere near Wellie as a batsman. It's unfair how Bones has had so few games. We keep having to hedge our bets and play a guy who can also bat because our batting is so brittle. He's Wellie's direct competition so he's never coming out on the right side of that.

Half the guys are worrying about doing enough for reselection and less about winning. Most guys don't get paid enough to survive, right there is intense pressure. ZC's solution is to pay less to make them play better. That could work along with internment camps and water boarding.
It's a disease here where if a guy knows he's not under pressure he takes his foot off the pedal.
That's changing a bit. There's 5 or so guys that will push for places (if Salamander can relieve Mutendira of his duties)

I rate Kaitano, he's got game. Finds ways of getting out, but he can really bat.

Frost is also good. He's a lot more one dimensional though. He's certainly made runs of late, and that's a batter's only currency. He's looked really solid in this red ball, but I'd need to see him chasing a few big totals in white ball or playing some more shots setting a total before I got excited. I'm not saying he can't, just haven't seen it yet. Technically he's very good.
The problem is the middle order is tough to crack. The empty spots are up front.

Chesa and Mavuta are currently quite similar. He hasn't had the exposure to see if he can cope with real pressure. We won't know until they give him some games. I hope to see him. The main difference is Mavuta can bat. Does some stupid shit, but he can bat. Chesa is way off in this dept.

We've got so many guys that are very similar and nobody is really doing something magical. And when someone does something vaguely decent he gets an extended run and can fail repeatedly thereafter.
Bennett has slipped into this category. He'll get some more rope, but he needs some runs now.
It's all a bit weird and some sensible heads need to find a better way.

Lost the toss AGAIN and batting first again.

We need to arrange some coin tossing practice.

Bawa got a good ball there. Good bouncer at his lid. Was looking solid up until that point which was good to see. Welch delicately poised on 33. Again, lots of chat from the bowlers directed at the umpires

What a ridiculous shot to play when you are set

Quite why NW felt he had to reverse scoop when he was set and going well is beyond me.
