Zimbabwe vs Seychelles 19th October

Post by Donald »

Super keen I know but thought I would start a thread for this opening match of qualifiers.

Not so much interested in opposing side but more interested in team dynamics and positions.

Do we open with bennett and Marumani?

Maposa given a go alongside ngarava and muzurabani in bowling combination?

Musekiwa to make his debut. Play him at 7?

Open with Raza and Bennett, ponzo needs to be up the order; he’s a very senior player now Ervine and Williams are out to pasture.

I wonder what the makeup of the Seychelles team is? English guys living on the beach or Pakistanis?
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

I think these sides won't be able to handle ngarava and blessing pace or at least score consistently off them.

I do see zimbabwe 6-2 at some stage with madhevere and marumani probably the guilty parties and myers and raza bailing them out

See off Blessing and Richie taking what you can, same with Wellington to an extent. You’d know you’re guaranteed 10-15 extras off us and the change bowlers like Faraz could easily go at 10 an over. You’d know we aren’t always the best in the field and are prone to a collapse.

We’ll lose at least one and have a nervy week

I know we've been here before and I'm tempting fate, but obviously we aren't going to lose these games. Kenya might be fairly competitive but ffs Seychelles are ranked 95th and haven't played a game since 2022. It's not a banana skin. It's akin to our senior men's team playing our u19 girl's team.
