I suppose with Ali you can say well, it’s probably his first ever season playing outside of Southern Africa. With Curran you would have expected better.

But there’s no stopping him at the moment. On for another 50 at the moment. Ridiculous form.
Been impressively dominant so far today.

Young Taruvinga in the the runs again, on FC debut this time. Has shaped up ok. Still only 18. Kept wicket as well, rather than Chiradza, Mutumbami or Tsiga (who wasn't even selected).
Good for the youngster to be getting runs at this level. He did quite in the NPL as well. With all the players we have atm its best to manage him properly so that he develops. He has shown that he has something to work with. So just give the kid a good contract and someone has to stop this whole generational talent thing. A few A games that will keep him in good touch until his time comes.

A good contract?
What's a good franchise contract?

A good contract is an annual one so you can live.
It's honestly a sick joke what these guys get paid.

Cracking innings from Ali today. Well played!!

Knackers closing in on a very slow and patient 100 as well.

Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a call up to be honest. Probably needs some 'A' cricket but he really has been grinding for a while. I think with that century he passes 1000 FC runs with a very healthy average. He is clearly better in this format.

As usual stats don't tell the whole picture in our small pool.
He's certainly learned how to make hundreds and he's a decent player for sure. We will see him at some point, that's a guarantee. I have some doubts at his ability to play up. We will find out at some point.

Knackers is another. Really knows how to occupy the crease and grind them out. It's the first thing you have to do, but whether he can perform on the world stage is not a given. Everyone assumes so, which is a mistake, this is a very very strange game. He's quite heavy on his feet, I'd like to see him against quality spinners, it would be interesting.

What is amazing is how many guys have suddenly started scoring hundreds. They're a regular thing now. Maybe the pitches are better, bowling probably not as sharp, but the fact remains that guys are churning some good scores out.

The batters are better.

In years gone by we had to make do with Tinashe Hove and Rememberance Nyathi. The welch brothers, Campbell, Curran, Myers, Maru and Bennett are leaps ahead in terms of natural batting talent.

Is Bawa and organised bat? Not seen much of him at all

Ya it’s promising. There’s been lots of centuries the past 2-3 seasons, especially in the Logan Cup.

The problem is….90% of our domestic season is still first class cricket. What’s the plan for T20’s? 4 days of it in May again? Ffs.

Ali Hamid isn’t a T20 player. NW and MW might have the ability to adapt but still long form seems their best formats. Same for literally all of our guys.

Fact remains that next year we have to beat Namibia and Uganda in T20’s again or else we won’t qualify for 2026.
