Ireland pre Tour

Never to early for a pre tour thread.

I'm Hoping for at least Munyonga, Campbell and N.Welch to get a crack at some stage.
The next round of matches will be a big factor.

Bowling wise.
I feel we have a core group that they will stick with.

I assume his injured but Tinashe Muchawaya was hoping would take the step up and see at some point.

My pick for surprise/head scratcher selection will be Bawa

Looking at the test set up I think form should be a big factor in selection. But we all know the selectors always have a mind of their own. N Welch has done more than enough for his name to be in the conversation. Nyasha Mavayo should also be looking to get a look in with Gumbie's form being really out of sorts.

Muchawaya's form took a deep after some great performance last year. He really seems to have fallen out of favour at Mountaineers.

Raza and Blessing must be in doubt for the test. ILT20 does not finish until after the test has started.

Good thread/discussion. I think the Test is first so I'll just talk about that. I'll pick my XI and try to justify the picks:

1) Gumbie - he was everyone's favorite prior to the Afghan series, harsh to drop him after just 1 bad series, ideally he should get the Ireland Test + one more before being dropped. He's limited but also has a pretty compact technique.
2) Curran - exceeded all expectations. Should be the mainstay here for a while.
3) Ervine - has form on his side, but he's a bit too susceptible to edging outwardly moving balls behind to bat at 3, but he does have form and very few others do
4) Williams - also has form, and you have to bat your two best batters at 3/4
5) Myers - out of form, but perhaps pushing him down to the middle might make things a bit easier. Easily the most talented young black batter so you have to stick with him.
6) Bennett - has done well enough across formats to be a sure-fire starter in each.
7) Mayavo - is he a keeper? You need a keeper and Gumbie can't do it and open. Also not sold on Madande's batting and his WK is abject.
8) Mavuta - a wrist spinner who can bat...should get at least another chance.
9) Ngarava - no need to write much about Richie and Blessing
10) Muzarabani
11) Nyamhuri - Showed enough promise to get more caps

So your solution to win is to replace Raza and Kaitano with Navayo and Mavuta.

Must have N.Welch in , Gumbie out and J.Campbell in for Mavuta who isn't any better than the part timers so better batting depth.

I think Gumbie will want to have a very decent next round of domestic.

It be great if their was a warm up game against Ireland. A Zim A game.
