[Series thread] 2011 Stanbic Bank T20
Re: [Series thread] 2011 Stanbic Bank T20
I am a bit concerned about the use of local players vs imports. I'm not necessarily against the number of imports, but more in the way they are being used. Horton seems to lack trust in the locals in his team, even though they are doing fine.

well, he called his mate T Smith over for company and now he has to let him play ... bat and ball!! I'm being slightly fascecious as i know they're professionals, but it looks like that ... he turned in a good performance today but really i agree with the general feeling. for example, C Ervine has 2 (or 3?) N.Os. next to his name - so, what is he capable of!!? we have no idea from this tourny that's for sure.Jemisi wrote:I am a bit concerned about the use of local players vs imports. I've said from the very beginning that each side should have three imported player in the squad, NOT their team. In my opinion each franchise should have had no more than 2 players playing for them per match that isn't from Zimbabwe. The rest should be Zimbabwean. That doesn't include guys like wessels or trenchard for example; they've played fc cricket so they deserve to be there. However guys like Burger (?) and Andre nel (?!) should not be playing. I wanted to see PJ Moor in the eagles squad yet he's not there because there is so many imports possibly the biggest tragedy so far is that Gavin Ewing, who has been in fine touch and has been the captain, is not playing!!!! Ridiculous!!

We all know what Craig Ervine is capable of, being the best middle order batsman in Zimbabwe. Unfortunately due to a conspiracy he is no longer being selected for the national team. Somehow Chakabva and Zhuwao are more deserving.

On the imports issue I would like to say that we made a choice to want to get to the top . We want to get the top so we have to play with the top even domestically . You guys are whining but locals vs imports and I wonder why we are all crying .This is not the Logan Cup where our true cricketers are earthed out , this is T20 .Jemisi wrote:I am a bit concerned about the use of local players vs imports. And for facts the first day It was the locals day .

I really enjoy your post match analyses sscricket. Are you a cricket coach/former player?

Perhaps in another life or a multiverse! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse)
I am really flattered but no! Hope you are not being sarcastic.
I am just fortunate to have so much free time (which I think all of us work for) and I realized I would rather not do anything but watch and live cricket.
I also spend the rest of my free time watching dvds, reading the internet from cover to cover including the possibility of the existence of earth-like exoplanets(which I am totally psyched about) or reading google news among other things.

Well, I rate Ervine eugene but we're not quite on the same page: Ervine played two of the three tests, Chakabva one, Zhuwao none. Ervine played all ODIs vs BD with a high score of 18, Zhuwao has only ever played the one - recently - where he outscored, Taylor, Hammie and Coventry and Chakabva has not played even an ODI since March.eugene wrote:We all know what Craig Ervine is capable of, being the best middle order batsman in Zimbabwe. the point is (Fp - this is to you too), our batsmen are not getting a look in...although it seems only Tuskers has packed their top order with overseas players

Has anyone heard anything about Ewing? I would have to assume that he is not fit. Wouldn't make any sense whatsoever not to pick the guy in the squad, there is no way that someone like Trenchard would get in ahead of him. Surely he must have a knock, or have requested a rest.sloandog wrote: possibly the biggest tragedy so far is that Gavin Ewing, who has been in fine touch and has been the captain, is not playing!!!!
