Meth needs to play. Meth should bowl 10 upfront. Chatara is mandatory.
How can this be a new beginning for Darren Bravo?
A limited player make to look like an artist.
Jarvis bowled well. So did M'shangwe. Mpofu can come back. He has got it in him to come back.
Utseya lets the game drift and hence needs to sit out. Come on...you dont need a coach to tell you that.
Chakabva can open in place of Chamu.
Attack: Meth, Jarvis, Chatara, Mpofu, M'shangwe.
Drop waller. Has been so out of form.
Changes for 2nd ODI?
Re: Changes for 2nd ODI?
I can see Pollard taking a liking to Mpofu if both play in the next ODI. Seriously worried the heads will drop so quickly again.

Yeah, if Meth does play, it would be best if he bowls most of his overs in one spell.sscricket wrote:Meth needs to play. Meth should bowl 10 upfront. Chatara is mandatory.

Re: Changes for 2nd ODI?
First of all, Waller is rubbish and an embarrassment of a batsmen at this level. It's nice to see someone who realises this. He should have been caught at first slip. I'm actually glad he went on to make a fifty because if he had gotten out when he had about 15-20 on the board, one can only imagine how our batting would've been judged on his basis.sscricket wrote:Meth needs to play. We can't afford to have 4 batsmen in limbo(Regis, Waller, Chamu & Craig), so it was nice to see Craig take some initiative, and I hope he steps up to support Vusi, Hami & Taylor. At 92/5 after 24 overs, all the rest that followed him were appalling, and I would've been happier if they had gotten all out for 150 in the 35th over than what we were subjected to. At least they would've been some batting taking place. After making a 50 Waller will not be dropped for all his mediocrity, so for the sake of our team, we can only hope he repeats it as part of a better team total. However, a lot is at stake so I think Chamu should make way for Mawoyo, while Regis should make way for Mutombodzi so we can have a specialist bowler.
It's suicidal to go in with just one spinner. Both Utseya and Mushangwe will play. Bear in mind that Mushangwe still has the potential to fetch plenty. In the first game, it seems he was unusually tidy, while Utseya was unusually more expensive.
The same applies where Jarvis & Mpofu are concerned. It's normal for Mpofu to go at about 5rpo or less, while it was unusual for Jarvis to be tidy upfront, but understandable because the openers were looking to settle first. You're right in saying Mpofu can come back. How the others in here calling for him to be dropped cannot see it is beyond me.
As for Meth, bowling him 10 overs upfront won't save him. He's not a Cameron Cuffy. By his 3rd over they will have worked out that he is useless, smash him, and he'll be pulled out by the 5th over with captain terrified of giving him the ball again. Chatara is the only option I'm afraid, and he must come in for one of Jarvis or Mpofu in the last ODI, depending on who does worst in today's match.

You've swapped Mutombodzi for Chamu, so we've got a 5 man attack which is great, plus he can bat a bit.takleg wrote:Sibanda, Hami, Taylor, Ervine, Waller, Chakabva(wk), Mutombodzi, Utseya, Jarvis, Mpofu, M'shangwe.
If Regis is nto going to keep, then mawoyo should come in. Why don't people want Mawoyo to open? I'll settle for 28/0 after 8 overs, so that once Best and Roach are out of the attack, our boys can cash in on the rest bowling around Narine. This Zim team can post 300+ against this lot.

Re: Changes for 2nd ODI?
I think it's better to have a solid batter in Mawoyo to give us a solid foundation. Even if he scores at 60-70 % strike rate and stay at the crease, it's better than to have Chbhabha score at 200% for 3 overs and then get out. All the others can bat around him. and I think we are better off chasing the game than setting a target, provided we aren't chasing 350. If Mpofu bounces back, Utseya is economical, our bowling unit will come good

Only hhm would have the logic to say that the only player to pass 50 should be dropped and also claim that if he were a superior batsman he would have got out cheaply. I guess that explains his infatuation with Matsi.
