What ever he has said or done has just lead Zim to our biggest ever test win... so its obvious Mangongo's style deserves a chance

Mangongo gave them an earful.
Grant Flower had quiet words with the players from the boundary at several points during the match.
Streak spoke to the players by phone to give advice and tactics.

Which one of them had the greatest impact? Who gave the most useful advice to the players? We have no way of knowing, although I know which methods tend to be more productive / constructive. There were a lot more people involved in this win than Mangongo.

EDIT: Also, home field advantage - we're always far more competitive at home. Also, how much has stung pride after the West Indies tour played a part? And probably many more contributing factors, as well...

May be this style of coaching is what zim needs i personally dnt care who coachs as long as they give good results ,its obvious that these boys need honest brutal feed back not all this pampering that was going on or may be soft approach military style works congrats mangongo

I think we are overestimating the role of the coach here. BT was the main driving force behind the victory. It seems as though he become the Michael Clarke Of zim.

Good points made by everyone here but we cant escape the fact that lots of things changed as soon as he was brought in as head coach... Better selection, better attitude, a desire to win all things that we were lacking in the Windies and NZ. The golden rule in sports is "don't change a winning formula" and if we win the second test as well, I don't see Waller becoming coach...

Maybe we need a combination: the head coach shouting abominations at you while the batting/bowling coach softly gives you pointers in how you can improve and thus avoid the tongue lashings.

The selection has been good though, so far I don't see the overly racist attitude to selection we feared. Keeping Ervine in the WI for Tests was a refreshing common sense decision, the bowling changes for this series seem to have paid off and there was a tactic for every BD batman out there. I don't know which is down to who but Waller has been appointed and I actually think that contracting Streak and Flower as specialist coaches is more crucial than everything right now.

Well, Taylor is most to blame for the victory, particularly the margin. Jarvis continues to grow. Solid work from the tail covered over poor efforts from most of the batsmen.

Hami and Chigs managed a contribution each and a failure each.

Vusi, Maruma and Mutumbami managed double failures.

Waller managed an important half century and a failure.

Of our top 7, 9 failures from 14 innings is pretty bad.

Taylor's 10 out of 10 performance + 1 50, 2 starts and 9 fails is not a good return. Cremer, Meth and Shingi to helped us out big time.

Batsmen 1-3 both innings scored 54 runs combined, batsmen 8-11 scored 160 runs combined. We'd do well to invert our batting order, lol. Seriously though, if we can pull off such a massive win with that feeble top order display, I wonder what we can achieve if they fire? And can Chris Mpofu make it back into the team ? Shingi really made a strong case for himself with bat and ball, so did Keegan, and Cremer. Jarvis was brilliant as always , he will lead our attack for years to come, and will only get better at it
