Gary Balance will not come back to the fold. Why would he, what's the attraction ? No money, poor economy, no sponsorship (in neither FC Cricket or national) and a board that employs and pays staff in offices before their own players. Like Herb said that door was shut a long, long time ago, and they key was thrown away when the lad joined the England Lions squad and wore that blue kit. He's gone, and won't be back.

Ervine, Lake, Burl, Taibu, Steve Marrilliar, Ian Nicholson, Querl and perhaps Friday Kasteni could be lured back, but cricketers like Sean Ervine and Gary Ballance have now built up a reputation for themselves all over the world, weather it be in The Champions league or for Western Australia. They don't need ZC.

The memory of the Zimbabwean team of the 90's is probably the main reason we are all keeping the faith. It's like an old girlfriend no matter how many times shit hits the fan you always go back at the sign of things getting better because of that distant memory of the good times ...... There's one thing which is often conveniently overlooked in the constant reverie about the competitiveness, fitness and fielding of the 80s and 90s: Yes, Zim were a great fielding side, and it gave them the edge they often missed in batting and bowling, but it gave them the edge because hardly anyone else in the game paid attention to such things (with individual exemptions of course). So basically, Zim were made to look excellent because everyone else was dire.

Today, it's not about gaining a competitive edge, it's simply about not falling further behind with the limited resources we have (cue, the question who will pay the Yorkshire fitness guru's bill).

That is excellent perspective.

Btw, Ballance is almost certainly a no-hoper He actually has an outside chance if doing very well in the UK and will never have that comfy life in Zim ... Forget about that

Sean n balance are gone so is Ireland n DeGrandhomme but Craig Ervine, Coventry, querl, Sumenderu, Moor, Lake, Burl, Steve Marriler and maybe even Taibu possibly plus many more are not gone so hopefully the board gets their act together and bhundu can convince some of these guys to come back I'm not saying all these guys deserve to be in the team right now but at least it will give Zimbabwe some depth and competition for spots which should improve the quality of the national team and 1st class setup which will bring the crowds in which will in turn beef up the television deals which will then bring in sponsorships which will then lead to better pay packets for players which then give young players some incentive to stay and not look abroad for better opportunity. If all this is possible and materialises hopefully we won't be here talking bout the likes of Sean Ervine and Gary Ballance not playing for Zimbabwe but hopefully A Brendan Taylor led Zimbabwean team beating an English team containing Gary Balance ......
