Good for Jarvis! I'm sure the others would do the same given the opportunity.

and im guessing its a kolpak deal.

but my question is...how the F do all these young zimbabweans have british passports anyway? they were born in zim, as was there parents
I'm pretty sure you don't need a UK passport to play on a Kolpak deal. A Kolpak deal is if the country has a trading relationship with the EU. I'm guessing Zimbabwe still does? I'm sure we'll find out in due course when Lancs make an official announcement.

The Kolpak ruling pertains to EU passports, so if a player is in possession of an EU passport he is able to play domestic sports regardless of any quota systems that are in place affecting numbers of overseas players. From what I understand, although Zimbabwe barred citizens from holding dual nationality it wasn't ever enforced particularly stringently so many were in possession of British and Irish passports.

This kind of thing is really concerning for the future of Zimbabwe cricket. When it becomes a better option financially to play domestic or even club cricket abroad than international cricket, there's a real problem that needs to be addressed by the Zimbabwean board. By the sounds of things they're paid appallingly, assuming they're paid at all, and it does make me worry for the future of the game in Zimbabwe.

Disappointing especiallly since Zimbabwe had a tough time competing with the top sides as is. I just posted on BC that a full strength ZIM would be very formidable, would really push WI, NZ, BD, SL and other sides. Imagine an XI of:

Sibanda
Mayowo
S Ervine
Taylor
Ballance
Taibu
Williams
Cremer
S Masakadza
Jarvis
Vitori/Chatara

You could finally get rid of guys like Hamilton and Chigs!

Correct. If you have a UK passport, then you wouldn't need to be a Kolpak, as you are British...

KJ states he is going to pursue a global T20 career .......

Better work on that economy ......

he is still young dont be surprised to see him putting his hand up for England in 4 years ......

Worst news I dare say with KJ gone BRMT is Zimbabwe's last world class player left ????

I was optimistic about pushing Pakistan prior to this news, now I'm not so sure .....

I actually thought with the new players union agreement a few players lie Coventry, Querl and others may return ...... how wrong was I .....

I wonder if anyone at ZC will ever look in the mirror and ask themselves if they would rather pay players rather than admin staff?

The bookies are saying no.

Heath Streak reacts, sad but not surprised: http://www.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe/co ... 63343.html

Trevor Gripper and Bryan Strang too support the decision: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/spor ... 906307.cms

Why does ZC need players, they have 100 or so administrators.
