Now says he wants to be eligible for England. Always suspected the ZC press release was hilarious spin.

He won't be back.
Re: Kyle Jarvis pulls out of squad, joins Lancashaire
The writing was on the wall for Zim when Kyle did very well against the aussie A team
Re: Kyle Jarvis pulls out of squad, joins Lancashaire
International cricket is a fucking joke how can a bloke represent his birth Country one week than the next he said he wants to represent another Country he has little to no links to ( I know his great grand parents are probably English )
And once again England are there with open arms its a fucking joke
Fair enough he wants to make money I cant blame him but mate stick to the county league don't pretend you have become a fucking pommy over night

Well, what are England supposed to do? Since he's the holder of an EU passport, he legally can't be refused the opportunity to play in England on the basis of his nationality. The rules mean that he'll be 31 before he's eligible to play for England, assuming he sticks around that long.
Re: Kyle Jarvis pulls out of squad, joins Lancashaire
He doesn't necessarily have to have an EU passport if he's from Zim or SA (of the main cricket playing nations) as those countries have a relationship with the EU that allows their nationals to work in EU countries with the same conditions as local workers, hence, in this case, as a non-overseas player. There are other conditions attached but I believe Jarvis meets all of them and he will qualify, after 7 years, as England-qualified through residency.Contra wrote:Since he's the holder of an EU passport, he legally can't be refused the opportunity to play in England on the basis of his nationality.
Re: Kyle Jarvis pulls out of squad, joins Lancashaire
Right. The point is, he has the legal right to work as a professional athlete in the UK, and English county clubs do not have the right to refuse that. But you can't let things like that get in the way of some good wailing about how unfair it is that English cricket has players not born in England.dang8811 wrote:He doesn't necessarily have to have an EU passport if he's from Zim or SA (of the main cricket playing nations) as those countries have a relationship with the EU that allows their nationals to work in EU countries with the same conditions as local workers, hence, in this case, as a non-overseas player. Contra my friend where have u been thought you would be gloating in ur nation great success ....
not blameing the poms here bud or blameing the county sides for giving him a go all power to him ...
but please playing for one country one week then claiming you would like to qualifiy for another the next week is just making a mockery of the concept .....
he should just stick to playing county cricket and the T20 career he was talking about and make himself some good money ....

...maybe he feels obliged to pay lip service to his desire to play for mud island?
But honestly, the journey towards an England spot is nigh impossible for him. Surely he knows that?
