Re: The John Ward column
"Whatever happens tomorrow, this tour has been the best overall performance I have seen from a Zimbabwe team since our return to Test cricket. Taylor suddenly seems to have improved his captaincy a whole lot; no more predictable bowling changes by the clock as has generally been the case in the past, and some imagination shown in the fielding positions. After the First Test I thought the selectors should have stuck with Masakadza as captain, but I was amazed to see how Taylor seems to have improved overnight. I cannot make Zimbabwe favourites for winning the match – too often I have seen the team either throw away a winning position or have it wrested from them by some outstanding performance from the opposition. So I can only hope!
The best feature of the Zimbabwe performance has been the seam bowling – Jarvis hasn’t even been missed, the others have done so well. The fielding has improved, though still short of their best standards of the 1990s, and there has been determination in the batting up to a point – we still need players who will convert useful innings into big ones."

"Let’s hope it is a real breakthrough for our team. Unfortunately there will be no way of telling, by the looks of things, for another ten months until we get our next scheduled international match, by which time the effects of victory will have worn off. Misbah played a really magnificent fighting innings today. He is an outstanding leader and I am astonished at the amount of undeserved criticism of him that comes in through the Cricinfo match ball-by-ball scores – from Pakistanis, too! He was a massive rock with Pakistan, and Zimbabwe can only be relieved that none of his partners was of the same calibre." - John Ward

Re: The John Ward column
Absolutely, Misbah had an excellent series and we would have smashed them without him.
Re: The John Ward column
According to John Ward, the domestic season is scheduled to begin November 16, but at the moment ZC is still figuring out how to pay for it.
