Great news for Taylor, totally deserves (and earned) the opportunity to test himself at such a high level of FC cricket.
Let's hope he's still able to represent Zimbabwe though.

It's not test cricket, or a world cup...

It is a nice little earner.

Signs he might keep playing for Zimbabwe:
Signs he's gone:
  • BBC correspondent implies he was waiting until after the WC to go (and Leics wanted him last year) https://soundcloud.com/bbcnottingham/daggers
  • Twitter rumours err on the side of Kolpak
  • Zimbabwe's home season coincides with the English county season
  • Nothing from ZC, statement by AC, etc resassuring the public

Line ball. :|
I hope we get the best of both worlds and he plays county as well as internationals (or at the very least, county as well as Tests)... if Chigumbura could do it... :!:

I would be surprised if Taylor is walking away from international cricket.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

I take umbrage to this though. Just because you are a national of another country, it does not mean that you should not be allowed to represent your country. Essentially, the Kolpak ruling only ever benefits the ECB and England cricket then. It also means that they can sign players to get around certain restrictions (overseas player). England are happy to pick and choose players from other teams as and when they see fit, but have a contract ruling which stipulates that you cant play for another country if you want to play domestically in their country?

Am i understanding this right? Correct me if i am not.

I would have thought the arrivals of Campbell and Whatmore would keep Taylor in the team. If the time to move was going to happen, it would have been when Mangongo was there surely. Perhaps Taylor knows a lot more than we do. This is the most frustrating part of everything. Lack of transparency and media coverage on the team.

Sort of. Obviously if you are an "official" overseas player then you can represent your country. However, if you are pretending to be from the EU in order to play as a non-overseas player, you have to accept the downside of that decision as well. ECB would love to disallow Kolpaks completely, but EU employment law doesn't allow them too. There are financial incentives for counties to field England qualified players, so they encourage the counties not to employ Kolpaks.

That said, from a Zim perspective, if Ervine, Jarvis (and now possibly Taylor) didn't void their county contracts by playing for Zim, they may well still be available for the national team.
