I hope Brendan reads the above messages, such appreciation and kind messages attest to his ability with that bat and his conduct as a man in general.

The first memory I have of Taylor was when I saw him bat against the West Indies in 2006, the tour where we had a very weak side with the likes of Rinke, Strydom etc, and he scored a rapid 60 in that match. As you all remember he had the bleach blonde crop of hair back then what a lid that was!

To see him leave is heart breaking, but it's so understandable. I'm a bit teary as I write this because (as BRM has already said) Taylor was a beacon of hope amongst average cricketers. He always represented the side with distinction and stayed through thick and thin, no matter what happened he was there. To close the book on a roller coaster career against India will be incredibly hard to take, but it's a decision which we all understand and know he has had to think long and hard about.

Thank you Brendan, and I can't wait to watch you on Sky Sports this summer xD I'm at Nottingham Uni as well so I'll be just round the corner

It was 15th March WC 2003, East London when Jerling's dreaded finger cut it short.
It will be 14th March WC 2015 at Auckland and he will be having the option to review if the umpires do the blunder again (as against WI).

I sincerely hope that ZC give BT a chance to lead Zim one final time even if Elton comes back into playing XI. He deserves it on pure merit. Olonga ripped apart India by scaling 3 wkts in an over at Leicester to give Zim its one of the greatest win ever in World Cup and same can happen again if the rest of the 10 players decide to give BT a memorable farewell gift.

However, 3 yr's loss of test cricket is too difficult to bear. We can survive in ODI's but what about tests?

I don't think you will find there will be much difference between his salary from ZC and what he will earn at County. I'm sure he was waiting for a lump sum and one last hurrah. I'm certain the issue is two fold-
Firstly the lack of international games and the poor standard of First Class here
Secondly, and probably most importantly, it is energy and morale sapping having to deal with the machinations of ZC day in and day out. He's done his time and I salute him for having sucked it up for so long.
I don't think the players have been happy here for many years and who wants to be Bvuti's and Chingoka's menial employees for longer than they have to.
Williams and Masakadza need to follow suit to really twist the knife but I don't think Hammy is going anywhere, he's comfortable in the mess.
Of course there will be guys willing to step into the big boots left behind but there's no-one able to fill them that I see.
I see Zim has also been booted out of the football World Cup for non payment, not that we would have qualified anyway.

Without BT (one player!!) we are at best at affiliate level, that is an indisputable fact an has been proven.
Whether we remain as a full member remains to be seen and if we do so it will not be on merit but rather on how it suits the ICC's plans for cricket in general. Whatever happens the culprits will continue to prosper.

Neil Manthorp said during radio commentary for the WI match that Taylor was the highest paid Zim cricketer on $120k a year. I'm not sure what a county contract goes for, but that's getting up there a bit so I'm with you Googly, there would be a few factors at play.

Actually most of the culprits are the cricketing public and players that have allowed this to continue for so many years. They have believed the lies fed to them for whatever their own personal reasons are and will believe the lying excuses with similar stupidity.

Hopefully Whatmore has a plan of what he wants to do and who he wants in the team. If the Cremer rumours are true, then hopefully its a sign that Whatmore is getting things right and doing them properly.

Taylor leaving really opens up a big opportunity for PJ Moor. He is young and definitely talented. If Whatmore or someone of note takes him under his wing and guides him and coaches him right, he has the potential to the wk for a very very long time. The same goes for others in that wk position, but i think more so for Moor especially as he seems to have that natural talent.

Hopefully the exodus does not occur, or at least not on the level we are expecting, because if it does, then i dont see what Whatmore is signing up for. I dont see what good is happening and i cant imagine things looking optimistic as Taylor suggested.

I blame Mangongo for all this. Taylor stayed through so much, but when Mangongo and the Bangladesh tour took place, it was the first time that Taylor must have considered it. He said it himself that it was over the past few months when he actually considered it and had to discuss it with his wife and so on.

Indeed, but PJ really needs to start dominating at domestic level first. We saw when he made his debut against Bangladesh that his use of footwork is almost non existent, he needs to improve on that if he's going to succeed at international level.
