The first memory I have of Taylor was when I saw him bat against the West Indies in 2006, the tour where we had a very weak side with the likes of Rinke, Strydom etc, and he scored a rapid 60 in that match. As you all remember he had the bleach blonde crop of hair back then

To see him leave is heart breaking, but it's so understandable. I'm a bit teary as I write this because (as BRM has already said) Taylor was a beacon of hope amongst average cricketers. He always represented the side with distinction and stayed through thick and thin, no matter what happened he was there. To close the book on a roller coaster career against India will be incredibly hard to take, but it's a decision which we all understand and know he has had to think long and hard about.
