Dion Ebrahim would be a good addition to the domestic scene given his experience and relatively good ability. He is however a very ordinary international player who should never have really played for Zimbabwe. I always got the sense he was selected to meet racial quotas, much like Stuart Matsikenyeri.

As far as I know, Ebrahim is playing for Taranaki CC in NZ and also for Stony Stratford CC in UK as the captain of first XI. His statistics has been good for them. We have got a report about it in ZCF also.

Regarding the inclusion of Dion Ebrahim, he will certainly boost the domestic side especially in the 4 day format. His List A average isn't good at all (19 odd in 120+ matches). He struggled badly in international cricket, especially against short pitch delivaries and bouncers. He always fought for survival not to dominate much. Very defensive batsman, the result was he couldn't rotate the strikes.

I think, the top order of Zimbabwe is looking much balanced now. It will be also boosted when Taibu and Mutizwa will be taken in the squad. Ebrahim isn't a player who can automatically work in, I agree also. He has to achieve it and in order to that he really has to put very strong domestic performance under his belt.

The stats reveal that Dion played better in a middle order position than as an opener.

Since he left he has played overseas .That must have given him a good exposure.

His middle order batting record definitely makes him a good candidate to bolster Zimbabwean Batting strength which already looks good. He will also add value of to the team being a brilliant fielder and should be a good contender for a recall.

After quite a bit thinking, I agree with bullseye28. As far as I can recall, when Ebrahim opened he used to get out scoring a duck or below 10 runs most of the time. But his good knocks mostly came batting at the middle order, I mean at no 4 or 5. So, if he can force himself back in the international cricket, he should be in the middle order. I really don't see him coming in the ODI format since he has got a very miserable batting average of I guess below 20 both in the ODI's and List A. So, I rate him as a test specialist.
