Strangest places you've met zim supporters,

Post by ZIMDOGGY »

A bit of fun here.
Mainly for the expats and the international fans.
I am sure you can all agree that Zimbabwean cricket news Is scarce at best.
Where are the strangest places you have found Zimbabwean cricket support?

For me;
A plumber in the 90s came and fixed my family sink dressed in Zimbabwe supporter gear.

During the most recent one day World Cup, I went down and dragged a friend to a suburban pub to watch the opening game and saw a bloke dressed to the tee in Zimbabwe gear. I chatted to him and he was an Aussie that follows the team as much as any of us, but was astounded he had never heard of this forum or the Facebook groups.

I did direct him here but To my knowledge he hasn't shown up... If I'm wrong please identify yourself. Was the west Ryde hotel in Sydney.

To a lesser extent, Australian tv often replays the marillier scoop shot game, the biggest newspaper ran a story on dean du plessie randomly, and Sean Ervine used to make our social gossip rags as some playboy cricketer?

Cool Topic ZIMDOGGY I had done a similar post on my blog of twimbos(Zimbabweans on Twitter) I had met in person.

The most interesting meet up with a Zimbabwe cricket supporter was KBMpofu I dont know if he is still here. After coming from Zimbabwe and posting pics of the Around the ground ReportI posted pics of Chris Mpofu and KBMpofu wanted the pics. We used to communicate on Zimbabwe cricket forums. Then while talking I found out he was in Joburg, and on more details realised we were in the same hood, same flat. It turned out he lived on the next floor above ours. I would go to his place at 1am in the morning to watch the West Indies vs Zimbabwe series.

I used to see a young guy walking around Auckland wearing a Zimbabwe cricket shirt. Not that strange though, plenty of Zimbos in New Zealand.

I met an attractive girl up at the Sunshine Coast, who was from Harare. She wasn't a cricket fan though...

I spoke to a random bird in manly whilst pissed and I asked where she was from (thinking she was a saffer) and she said 'you'll never guess in a million years' and I said Zimbabwe and she was shocked

She didn't want a piece of the Dogg though and that pissed me off. I was better looking than her

Interesting! Now write a new post on Twimbo's whom you wish to meet. Make sure to expand the definition of Twimbo's as Zim supporters on twitter and not merely Zimbos :D

I've actually never met another Zimbo cricket supporter except for one guy who didn't really support cricket but was a black Zimbabwean who used to work with Barney Rogers at his motocross park ......

My dream is to meet a beautiful Zimbabwean girl so my son can play captain Zimbabwe

Ireland's inagural ODI, versus England at Stormont a few years back. One boyo was there, produly sporting a very old Zim ODI shirt (the one with the lightning bolt design). Bearing in mind even I settled for wearing an Ireland shirt at that game, that was an impressive statement...
