Zimbabwe have recruited Makhaya Ntini and Marvan Atapattu to be assistant coach and batting consultant respectively, according to a report published today on the Zimbabwe Cricket website. The report says Ntini has been given a two-year contract, while Atapattu has been roped in for the duration of Zimbabwe's tour to Bangladesh starting from January 15.
Ntini, 38, has played 101 Tests, 173 ODIs and 10 T20Is for South Africa over a period of 13 years. ZC says he will begin work from February 16, while former bowling coach Douglas Hondo has been reassigned to the Zimbabwe A team.
Atapattu, a former Sri Lanka captain and coach, may succeed Andy Waller as Zimbabwe's batting coach. Currently, he is only a consultant but his "contract will be reviewed after the Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh, with a view to entering into a longer relationship," the Zimbabwe Cricket report said.

Very happy with these two appointments, hopefully Atapattu will stay on after the Bangladesh tour.
Not bad appointments. Attapattu will have the experience of working with Whatmore as well. But he wasn't that successful as the head coach of SL, although people liked his work as the batting consultant. The rise of Mathews the batsman is often linked to working with him. SL clearly missed a trick by not hiring Chandika Haturasingha when he was available. He had received high public praise from the legend Sanga himself, but still SLC ignored and appointed Marvan as head coach. Look at the progress of BD under Chandika and Streak! (We will witness it again, painfully, from day after tomorrow). Good appointments anyway.
Well the players can't complain about the coaching.

Hopefully these guys can get some results out of the boys, the side is brimming with talent it's just game awareness and consistency which is killing us ......

Was thinking that; Mutumbami, Muzarabani and Waller aren't exactly the most talented bunch. The only real, proven talents there are Cremer and Sean Williams

They will bring a lot of knowledge for sure. But does Ntini have any track record?
And referring to what crimson said, SL most certainly missed a trick in not hiring Chandika, after his stint with BD, I bet you SLC won't have the money to hire him - i think they already don't have the resources to outbid the BCB. And I bet India is waiting to snap up Heath Streak.

Compared some of the sides post rebel era I think there is a lot of talent, consistency is the key all the guys have shown ability to perform its just the consistency which is a problem ......
