ZIMBABWE CRICKET BOARD SHOULD REVAMP DOMESTIC CRICKET

Over the last two years Zimbabwe Domestic Cricket structure has been a big question mark, after Zimbabwe worst performance in this two years. Zimbabwe even faced problem to defeat the Associate nations which is really a shame for the country being a full member nation. Performance in International Cricket depends on doing well in the domestic circuit. New talents are nourished meeting the competative environment in domestic cricket.
Zimbabwe Domestic Structure has been lack of competiton & of worst infrastructure. Recently Zimbabwe ex skipper Alistar Cambell also raised question that board has failed to put the proper domestic set up. Ex Zimbabwean fast bowler always says in his interview, that the country needs to find & nourish tallent and board needs to be managed under proper administration.
There is a truth in ex Zimbabwe Coach Dave Whatmore who criticized four franchise team domestic games as rubbish, because the young players are mostly used in carrying drinks instead of any chance in the presence of seniors. The young stars are never given proper chance in the domestic tournaments, the under 19 players who have done well are either had to sit out or move to other nations for playing some games. The records very much says there is much less transformation of players from under 19 to the domestic teams, whereas other nations are throwing their under 17 & 19s to play domestic games soon after their under 19 world cup endeveaurs as a result they are getting proper talents ready for the international teams.
Zimbabwe Domestic Cricket has just four domwstic teams, which are simply not enough to produce any talent or create a competative environment.
Recent Zimbabwe Premiere League 2016 & Under 17 week tournament 2016 showed that the country has the larger player base but all that its need is to make them play selecting in differant teams in a competative environment with the international players of the country, that will develop their skills and the struggling national team will get the proper talents that will make win games.
Zimbabwe Cricket recently moved to provincial system in domestic cricket which is a better prospect.Its time to make two GROUPS in the four day tournaments, odi tournaments & t20 tournaments which will be divided into 6 groups each with the top four teams reaching the Semis & then final.

1.Bulawayo.
2.Harare
3.Manicaland.
4.Mashonaland East
5.Mashonaland West
6.Zimbabwe High Performance Squad
GROUP B :
1.Masvingo.
2.Matabeleland North
3.MatabelelandSouth
4..Midlands
5.Mashonaland Central
6.Zimbabwe Young Stars XI
Players base should be made of Four Categories
1) Zimbabwe International Players
2) Zimbabwe Domestic Players
3) Zimbabwe Under 19 players
4) Zimbabwe Under 17 players
Players from this four base should be distributed in 12 provincial teams, and each province should have total of 15 players with 11 provincial teams must play two under 17 or under 19 player & the Young Star team should be fully based on the under 19 & under 17 players. Eeach Team could also include a foreign player from any other nation, depending on them. This will develop the game & make Zimbabwe future a better prospect. Zimbabwe National Team is struggling with a lack of talents its time to create a competition between the national team players and the amateurs to get the best XI players for the country who could win games and gave back Zimbabwe the lost glory

With cricket now open to the liberated masses, we have an abundance of talent that was previously shut out of the game. I will get on the phone with ZC again and tell them to give more opportunities to the young indigenous players. Perhaps put all the whites on one team to keep them happy?

YOUNG PLAYERS FROM UNDER 17 TO UNDER 23 SHOULD BE GIVEN OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY WITH THE ZIMBABWE INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS IN DOMESTIC CRICKET
