A few wins against Bangladesh would be deemed a success for the current crop. We were still competitive with major nations whereas now a draw against a diabolical Windies team is treated as a victory!

That was never the plan. It wouldn't have been the Intercontinental Cup, but a "Div 2" of test cricket, with automatic promotion and relegation.Kriterion_BD wrote:Only because the BCCI for whatever reason blocked the plan of demoting WI, BD, and ZIM to the intercontinental cup.jaybro wrote:So the ICC want to bring in 2 more test nations in 2019 but limit the number of sides in the World Cup ???
Makes zero sense .....

The intercontintal cup IS the division of test cricket. If the best Test side you face is Afghanistan or West Indies...you have lost "test" status are an asslciate. A piece of paper with the words "official test" wont change that.aydee wrote:That was never the plan. Thank goodness the BCCI has forced a more reasonable setup and one with the best chance of success for all members and the game as a whole.

I think after what Bangladesh and Sri Lanka recently achieved against England and Australia a 2 tier system is definitely out of the question. the only way to bring this so called "context"to cricket to all formats of cricket is to make everybody play each other. seeing a situation like where England and Zimbabwe don't play each other at all is what kills the game. the worst one is India and Pakistan. politics should have no influence on sport. decreasing the number of teams at the world cup is also sad. people have to understand that every sport has minnows and the way out is to help them not condemn them to lower leagues.
for me its simple. the premier league football model where there is collective bargaining is the only way to go. add Afghanistan and Ireland. give all of us the same amount of money.that will make national and domestic contracts about the same. players won't have a reason to not play for their original countries or look for other sources of income. introduce a league system in all formats plus the world cups with 16 teams for limited overs and we can get billions of dollars for TV deals. it increases competitiveness all round.

and of course with a board like ours it would be better if we have international auditors and a situation where all national and domestic contracts are paid by the ICC directly.

We take they farmers & business but expect them to represent Zimbabwe with pride...CrimsonAvenger wrote:Oh, this is worse than I thought. Then there actually is nothing much to look forward to! Also, players of the "diaspora" might not turn up with the hope of the world cup as well...
We enforce a quota system but demand them to carry watch bottles for the likes of Chigs, chouya etc
