Having watched Cremer, I think he is a very talented bowler. With his batting improving, he is good captaincy material at least performance wise, and invaluable to the team. He is also just 30 meaning he's entering his prime and has 6-8 years of solid cricket left in him.

As a batsman if he can be a guy who averages 20+ with the ability to score big fifties and the occaisional ton, he will be a great player.

On the bowling front he has the ability to turn the ball both ways, and bowls plenty of rippers. Just needs to cut down on the boundary balls - almost all wrist spinners have that problem - and needs someone who can build pressure from the other end. Also needs some dustbowls to bowl on.

A specialist second spinner is what is needed, preferably an off spinner or an SLA to partner him in Asian conditions, but for now Williams/Raza have done a decent job I would say.
If Zimbabwe had continued to use the successful Wellington, Jongwe and Madziva (and Chisoro) - all very very young, then there would have been no purpose for that Academy, right? So drop the supposedly poor performing seniors (Vusi and Panyangara), drop the youngsters who have apparently not delivered, Zim get extremely poor results, with some seriously strugglin seniors who are in too highly paid contracts to be dropped, and Zimbabwe is in a crisis that desperately needs an academy to fast-track development. Before you know it, the great young hope Ngarava is bowling alongside Mpofu who averages 40, as well as non-bowlers like Williams, Raza and Mire. I mean, who in their right mind even calls that an international attack, and expects a bowling coach to add ANY value when the only proper bowlers are Chatara and Cremer - with neither completing their quotas?

Malcolm Lake is in England and played first class cricket for Oxford MCCU this season. I saw him play against Warwickshire back in April and he looked pretty decent, though his stats aren't great. He did hit 65 against Somerset though. I presume he is still here.

CAMPBELL light is a seamer, though where he is currently I don't know. He was the overseas player at Spalding Town in Lincolnshire a couple of years ago, and they wern't too impressed with him. He was pretty quick but had a crap attitude by all accounts.

A lot of these rising stars have just been to England and done well against pub, premier club, and some county 2nds. I think Mashinge got a deal with one of the clubs as a result. Mavuta already had good domestic stats in Zim, so that experience alone proved Zimbabwe's domestic cricket is good enough to prepare players to be up to if not better than the club ad 2nd XI standard over there.

What level are Maghull CC in England cricket structures?

What kind of Visa did they get for Mashinge, and how was he able to play for ZIm Rising Stars and Maghull at the same time?

Are Taibu and Flash Sports in some kind of partnership to market these youngsters? Any agency fees for FlashSports, and commission for Taibu?

The standard of the ECB Premier leagues is decent. I think you'd be suprised.

I stand to be corrected. However:

1.There are 29 Premier Leagues
2.Each of them has 3 Divisions
3.On average 12 teams per division
(NB: There are other feeder league for each of the 29 premier league)

So on this logic, taking for instance Maghull wher Mashinge is playing, they are in the 3rd Division of Liverpool(one of the 29 leagues).

Anyway, that means, technically, there are 696 other clubs superior to Maghull, and 347 at the same level as Maghull.

This is also where Taibu stays in England right. :) So if we focus just on that area alone, Premier(13 teams), 1st Div(12 teams), 2nd(12 teams). That's 37 teams, of which 25 are above Maghull, and 11 on the same level as Maghull. In just one city or district!

you can't compare that to the SA Provincial, Varsity, and Club scene. In SA it's actually County level players who play in our top club cricket scene, not your lowly English club cricketers.

Why do you think players like Cephas Zhuwao, Mugava, Mutombodzi etc thoroughly dominate club cricekt in England? It's because the level is very low compared to ZIM FC.

Again, comparing at a higher level, South African domestic players dominate County Div 1 and 2 far much more than they do/did SA's domestic FC/Provincial cricket. In fact, I don't think NZ's Jeetan Patel and the Marshall brothers dominated Sheld Cricekt in NZ as much as they do/did County in England.

The fact of the matter is, Taibu and his Rising Stars played at an extremely low level. An absolute waste of time and money when they could have gotten significantly higher competition in SA!

You clearly don't understand the standard of club cricket in England. No point in trying to explain it to you either by the looks of it.

Plenty guys play cricket in England here so it's not that I don't get a first-hand assessment.

I'm just happy the rules there will make it difficult for these to go over there and boss the setup as usual but it opens up an opportunity for plenty other guys to go over to England for true recreation for amateurs.

It doesn;t matter that a team in a low division still gets to play a top tier club team, unlike in English football. The reality is for a national endeavor(Rising Stars), these clubs were not the right opposition for the desired result.

Forget me. You understand English Club cricket and you're welcome to open a thread designed to prove it was beneficial, but I doubt you'll manage.
