Poor, not underprivileged. If you are poor you can still be a member of an privileged group. Your poverty is then a factor of other things.

I'd agree 200%...in Afghanistan, success depends more on education not gender.

...but access to money is largely about race in the US, and I'd imagine much of Europe. For example there have been studies in the US that a person with the same degree, same marks, same experience but with a black sounding name is 3x less likely to get an interview than with a white sounding name. The same has been shown in terms of getting bank loans with equal credit scores, access to housing (which affects school districts).

To go back to my example from earlier. Success in Afghanistan depends on education. But, education is severely restricted to girls. Hence, it is actually linked to gender.

And in SA a white guy with ten times the qualifications won't get a job ahead of a black guy with a 30% matric pass. Pass marks are lower for black pupils. White kids with 80% average for matric often can't get into a useful degree at Uni. Same as American universities- the ratio of pupils is not inline with the demographic.
Racism and prejudice exist everywhere, privelege not so much.

Minorities will always get the short end in all communities. It's human nature. Albeit the situation for Black ppl.in the US is a different to white Africans because they were brought again their will and cannot legally return to their native lands. They don't even know if they are native to Zimbabwe or Cameroon.

Can you honestly say though you dont get treated well in sydney?
screen out any grumpy person you may have dealt with time to time (i get those too) or one off cases of random comments, because i got those from lebs all the time in sydney.

I definitely get treated pretty well in Sydney but I`m still a kid lol. I cant really say much. Either way Sydneys much nicer than most English cities isnt it?
